could someone plz give me some advice if they have been through this on how long you actually went through the bleeding after a mc without a d/c. thanks

The good thing about not having the d & C done is that you can start trying right away. It might be good to have one normal cycle just so that you know your cycle start date...A lot of the times when you have a d & C done they like you to wait for 3 cycles so that your uterus lininng as time to thicken. My miscarriages were all d & C's and I bleed for about 2 weeks fairly light so I'm not sure how long it takes with a natural miscarriage....Good Luck!

For my natural miscarriage I bled for only a week just like as if it was my regular period.  Then AF showed up exactly when it was supposed to the following month right on schedule.

Everyone is different and it also depends on how far along you were when you miscarried.  You could also go back in a few days and get a scan done to make sure that you have naturally expelled everything if the bleeding still persists and it concerns you. Hope this helps.

I also bled for only a week as a normal period.

Everyone is different and your Dr probalby already told you this but it could be up to 6 wks before you start your normal cycle again. But just like how long you'll bleed, when you start again is anyone's guess. I started 28 days after my m/c, but didn't expect it for 6 wks and some people bleed again as soon as 2 wks after m/c.

Sorry you are going through this. I know how painful it is.

I had back to back miscarriages without D&C's.  So it is possible to get back to normal cycles right away.
Both m/c's I had bad cramps for about 5 hours, then heavy flow for about 2-3 days then normal period.  It might have been a day longer than normal.
Keep trying... good luck!

Thanks everyone for your responses. Hopefully all will go well in the future. I just wish i new when the bleeding would stop, it comes and goes and i never know. Its been 6 days now and just get worried. I figure i will call my doctor on monday if i still got it. He told me it would last 3-5 days thats why im a little nerveous about the bleeding. But thanks for everyone that has responded. If anyone has new information about how long a natural miscarriage would perhaps last i would appreciate thanks. BUt everyone on here who has written me has eased my mind somewhat. Good luck to you all!

I had a natural miscarriage back in april and the bleeding lasted about 7 days.  Also if you dont want to get pregnant right away be very careful.  My bleeding stopped on the 11th and I got pregnant on the 16th (broken condom).  I didnt find out untill july 4th, I thought my body was still recovering so I ignored the symptoms. Good luck and im sorry about your loss, its really hard.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I had a miscarriage about a month ago, and I also chose to let it happen naturally. I was terrified that I would have terrible cramping and flow, but I had very heavy bleeding on and off for about 4 days, and then it stopped altogether, with no cramping at all.
My doc told me that 7-10 days from your first heavy bleed is generally when you should expect it to stop. Having said that, I would assume that how far along you were when you miscarried would have an impact. I started to miscarry at about 6 weeks, but did not start to bleed heavily until almost 10 weeks. But when the heavy bleeding started, it only lasted 4-5 days.
My husband and I resumed sex after the bleeding stopped, and once I felt comfortable enough physically and emotionally.
Take some pressure off yourself, and take time off work if you can. My doc ordered me off for 10 days because of low blood pressure, and that made all the difference to my emotional state.
Don't pressure yourself to try again immediately, and you should definitely wait until you have stopped bleeding so that you don't risk infection.
My thoughts are with you, and I emphathize with the pain you are feeling. I visit a children's hospital frequently for work, and when I see all of the seriously ill children, I remind myself that perhaps by having a miscarriage, we have been spared from something far more tragic. I don't know if you are a faithful person or not, but I hope this helps. Remind yourself that your body IS capable of handling this naturally, but its okay to seek help or intervention if you don't feel you can handle it any longer.
Either way, there will be brighter days ahead for you and your family :)
