formula--name brand vs store brand

my ds is 5 mo old-we have been giving him similac advance w/iron-we want o switch to parents choice as it is alot less expensive--has anyone switched formulas from a more expensive brand to less expensive with any problems or should i get in touch with my dr to see if it is ok?

you may want to run it by your doc but i have heard great things about the parents choice brand.

I would definately run it by the dr-  Just in case of allergies.

I was told there is no difference between the brand name and store name, Just the name  All formulas have to have the same amount of nutrients, vitamins etc...in every formula before it can be marketed.
unless your baby requires a specific formula for allergies, or digestive problems,
If its price wise your after even switching to powder of the "brand name" can save you some money.

I did this with Dd but asked my ped first. She wanted me to bring in the can and compared the 2 and they were exactly the same. Deffiantlye check witht he ped first but it worked really well for us.

WE ALREADY USE SIMILAC ADVANCE POWDER W/IRON-$22 A CAN--THE PARENTS CHAICE IS $12--I LEFT A MSSG FOR PED AND AM STILL WTG A CALL BACK--HOPE TYO HEAR FROM HIM BY END OF WEEK AS WE WILL NEED MORE BY SATURDAY.

DS DID REALLY WELL ON OUR VACATION SLEPT THROUGH ENTIRE FLIGHT THERE AND BACK.

We had dh on Enfalac and then changed to the President's Choice (Canadian grocery store brand) formula and he actually liked it better and it was way cheaper and just as good for him.

finally got in touch w/ dr and he said it would be ok-just watch for any reactions and he said there may be a change in bowel movements.

I change my last daughter to the wal-mart brand.  It caused severe diarrhera.  We had to go back.  

Although they say all forumula are the same.  They are not.  Compare the different brands side by side on there components.

the doctor said to watch for change in bowel movements and allergic reaction--started the parent's choice yesterday--seems to being doing well.
