gest. sac, and yolk sac found at 5w3d but no fetal pole...

I just found out on 12-4 that i was pregnant, i thought i was further along according to when i thought i had my last period, but the u/s said i am 5 weeks 3 days. They found the gestacional sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole...also, i had been cramping a little, having back pain, and when i wiped there was a pink discharge on the tissue, and now it is on and off, and also i have spotted brown some.My hormone levels are where they are supposed to be. I still have the pregnancy symptoms although not much mornng sickness, just tired and sore breasts and a little nausia here and there. They have put me on bed rest because of threatened miscarriage. Everything seems to be going fine now, I just don't know what to expect...with both the yolk sac and gest. sac present...that has to be something positive right? and my cervix was closed. Ugh! i hate all this waiting around to see! anyone else going thru this or have been thru it?

I'm sorry you are going thru that as well. Based on my experience, it is a good sign that your cervix is closed. And even better that you are not cramping. I was told that if I saw bleeding more than a regular period go to ER. I did and they saw the sac, but empty. The fact that they also saw the yolk, could be good as well, it's probably just to early to see the rest, if you are not cramping, just rest, relax and pray that everything is good on monday when you see your doctor. I will be praying for you as well.
Hope everything comes out good for you!

((hugs))

I know it is easier said then done, but try not to stress. Stress isn't good for you or the baby. Yes it is a very good thing they saw the gest. sac and yolk sac, and only being 5 weeks, it is to early to see the fetal pole. I believe 6 1/2 weeks is normally when they can start to see it, and even then I have heard of some women not seeing it until the 7th week if the baby is hiding next to the wall. You said your levels are where they should be and that is a good sign. Now for the morning sickness, most women don't start with that until the 6th-8th week. The cramping and back pain is normal in early pregnancy because of your uterus growing and stretching to make room for the new baby and the pink spotting is more then likely implantation bleeding. Like i said before, I know it is easier said then done, but try not to stress to much, stay in your bed like your doctor said and rest. =)

i had the exact same thing happen to me.. but the doctor told me that i was six weeks and that everything is fine and it is common in a lot of women to not see anything clear until 7-12 weeks.. hope thats a little bit of help..

thinking of you..

No worries-you are ahead of schedule with the sac and yolk sac and they wouldn't expect to see a fetal pole yet.  I had a yolk sac appear very late and then 4 days later (2 weeks after expected) there was a baby and a heartbeat!  you will be fine.  lots of prayers to you.

I'm sorry to say but with my first pregnancy I had gest sac, yolk and heartbeat and normal hormnone levels and i miscarried 5 days later.. everyone is different though but i will keep my fingers crossed for u.  I am pregnant again now and got early scan, saw healthy gest sac no yolk as very early but started with pink discharge and now i am bleeding heavy, its not looking good again have cramp too....Good luck
