getting preg after m/c

getting preg after m/c

I am asking this question of anyone who has experienced a m/c. I don't know when is best to start trying again. The doc suggests 2 full cycles, but I have heard from several women that got pregnant right away after m/c and had a healthy full-term pregnancy. Doc said there wasn't any real medical reason to wait, just that they thought it was best to get back on a regular cycle before starting. I have wanted a baby for years now and waiting another 2 months to start trying feels like an eternity.

Also, how long did the bleeding last for other people after their m/c? Today it has been 9 days and I am still having light bleeding. It hasn't been heavy, but I still have to wear a pantyliner. I thought it was stopping a few times, but it always comes back. Lately it has been mostly dark brown. Is that a good sign that it might stop soon?

I had a m/c on Nov. 26 and my bleeding stopped Dec. 5  and got pregnant 2 weeks after that again and didnt know till end of Jan until after 8 weeks of waiting to get my period again and it never came....I'm now almost 32 weeks with a boy ...so its possible to get pregnant after a miscarriage just if your ready again and if you are then I would say go for it....good luck to you!!

my doctor asked me to wait one cycle after i had a d&c December 5th of last year. he said the same thing about there being no real medical reason. it just allowed me a bit more time to mentally heal and made my pregnancy easier to date.

i am now due October 3rd with twin girls. you are more fertile after for a few months.

good luck. :)

I feel 100% ready to try again. I don't feel like I need a 2 month period in-between. I had a natrual m/c, so my body did it's own thing. My bleeding has been VERY light, even rigth after I passed the tissue my bleeding when down to almost nothing. I haven't had any cramping other than during the m/c, etc. Once this bleeding stops I want to begin trying right away.

I keep getting well-meaning family and friends who adivse me to wait, like I need the grieving time or recovery time, but I feel fine. I am sad for the loss, but I am even sadder just sitting around waiting to try to have a baby of my own. I am someone who is happier when I know I am working towards something that I want.

I just want to make sure there is no "physical" reason why getting pregnant right away would be a bad thing, like that I would be more likely to m/c again if it were to happen.

I had a miscarriage 11/16 and got pregnant within 2 weeks. I was due July 18th and am now due August 19th and 34 weeks pregnant with a little boy. If you are ready and had a natural miscarriage, I say go for it. My doctor told me it was fine. Sorry for your loss but baby dust for next time!

Thanks to everyone for your encouragement! It means a lot to actually talk to others who have experienced what I have. I don't have anyone around me that has ever gone through the same thing. I am glad to hear others have been able to get pregnant right away again with no problem, even though I know the fear won't completely go away.

I got a call from my doc today that my HCG level was at 36 on Friday, so I am hoping to be at 0 by my next test and will start trying right away!

I think my situation is probably a little strange because I bled for so long.
I was 12 weeks. on 6/7 when it started. I bled off and on...from really heavy to spotting for 28 days.
Stopped for 5 days.
started again today...but with cramping and what seems like normal AF symptoms.
I "think" this is AF.

So hopeuflly i'll get back on track and can TTC this month.
My dr told me one full cycle and then I can try-mostly for dating.

Hope to help

Hi!  I know a lot of people say wait so you'll be emotionally ready, but truthfully I'd be worried no matter when I got pregnant.

I had a D&C 5/11/07 because of missed miscarriage. I bled for well over a week. The dr said no intercourse for 2wks and no bleeding.  That weekend of the 2nd week, I apparently ovulated and now I am 7w and 5d!

Even though we saw the bean and the little heartbeat, I still get worried!!!

Good Luck to you!!!!!

Hi, i am so sorry for your loss.  I had a miscarriage in nov of 06 and i bled the week before the actual miscarriage light brown.  Then when it really started i bled a week of heavy bleeding and passing clots aand i had the worst cramos i have ever had.  It slowed and i spotted for about 3 days after that and it was finally over. Everyone is different though.:)

My doc told me to wait as well, but she said it was mainly to have a date of conception should i become pregnant after my first period.  I got my period 6 weeks from the day i started bleeding.  My husband and i wanted to try again so when the bleeding stopped we started in hopes that i could be one of those women to get pregnant before i had my period.:)  But instead i got pregnant after that first cycle in Dec and everything is going great!  I am now 29w5 pregnant with a healthy baby boy!  But yeah, go for it if you feel up to it!  Good luck with everything k!! :)

can i ask a stupid question?  i had a d&c 11 days ago.  the bleeding stopped about 8 days after d&c.  what is the soonest that you can ovulate after the d&c..or get pregnant after?  I wouldn't think that you'd be able to for awhile to have the lining build up...what is the soonest you've gotten pg?
