glucose test

glucose test

I have to take my sugar test tomorrow and was wondering if I am still able to eat breakfast before I take it.  My appt is at 9:10 so I was planning on drinking it at about 8am. But I didnt know if I could eat something before or after. Maybe like some cereal or something. Any input on this would be great!!! I am nervous -- I hope I pass it!!!!!!!!! Hope all is well with everyone!:)

Thanks!

I will be taking one tomorrow as well.  I will begin mine at 7:30.  They stated that I should not have anything to eat or drink 12 hours before.  Water is okay but not really anything else.  I have heard a few people state that there are some foods that should be okay.  I would not eat anything personally.  I failed my one hour on my last pregnancy and had to take the three hour and passed.  I would rather not need to take the three hour if possible.

I just got my Glucose drink the other day, and with it I got a sheet explaining the procedure. It said I was not to eat or drink anything 2 hours before I drank it. Then, I had to be at the doctors office within an hour of drinking it. (and that I had to drink it within a five minute period? ughh!)

They set my appt for 11:15. That way, I could eat something for breakfast early in the morning (around 8 am), and let at least two hours go by before I drink it. Then I just have to get to the doctor asap. (I plan on drinking it on the way there)

I told them I feel sick in the am if I don't eat, so they set it up where I COULD eat something early. They just said not to eat anything after that.

Good luck!

I was actually scheduled to take my test yesterday. I had read on another forum that I didn't have to fast before the test so I ate breakfast. I drank the drink (which was actually not too bad this time it was lemon - lime)then I went to the clinic an hour later. Right on the bottle if I would have read it, it says to fast for 12 hours before the test. So I received another bottle of solution and had to redo the whole thing this morning. If in doubt call your doctors office and ask them. Good luck!!

I would call your drs office and ask. I did not have to fast for the 1 hr test. But I had to take the three hour test and had to fast for that one.
