Oh, I'm so sorry! Poor Cameron, I hope he feels better soon :( Those antibiotics they give usually worked by the next day for my son and took the pain away. I wish your son a speedy recovery too!

ugh,  CYW.  That was quick - to go from a "clear" looking ear to a burst eardrum!

I ended up having to get an otoscope.  You can get them from a pharmacy,  and they come with a little booklet that shows what a healthy eardrum should look like,  one with congestion,  in early stages and late stages of infection.

Very easy.  You can see immediately if there's a problem.

I had one with my kids, too.

That poor child has been through a lot!

the dr said he sure did have a rough week...Cam that is. He is on pediatric azithromycin sp? he said that if his ear is still not better or leaking like that or the fever is still around to go back tuesday. he was really nice. The look on his face was pure disgust. When i told him we had see his pedi on tuesday and seen a dr at a clinic yesterday, he said the ear infection could have begun this morning. He said those can happen in a matter of hours?? i dont know...i have had ear infections before and never had stuff leaking the way he does.

Back in June, Ashtyn went to the ped on the 18th, and his ears were clear. Two days later, on the 20th, he was in the ER with a burst ear drum. It does happen, and the ENT actually told me that ear infections in children can go as non-existent to very bad in a day or so. I hope this is the end of Cameron's troubles....he is sick a lot!

So sorry. I always feel so sorry for the little ones with an ear infection.  They are painful.  Luckily the antibiotics usually start working pretty fast.
