hcg levels after ectopic pregnancy

Does anyone know how long after an ectopic pregnancy it takes for hcg levels to return to 0? We have to wait for the 0 before trying again. the dr said thet the tube can rupture if your levels have not reached 0 too, so sex is out of the question too. Ectopic was treated with methotrexate on 3/10. on 3/10 my hcgs were at just over 8100. On 3/14, they had risen to just over 8800, and then dropped to about 6100 on 3/17. i had them tested again on 3/24, but have not gotten the result yet today.

Everyone is different. With the ectopic it can take longer. I caould safely say after 5 weeks post m/c it should be zero!! Hopefully it wont take you that long, but this time next month you'll probabaly be ready to try again. When you find your levels out let us know. It'll be helpful to others who might be going through the same thing!

the dr office just called with my levels, and she said they were now at 2700. I'm guessing that they will be close to zero this week, because they have been dropping about 3000 points every seven days. This friday will be 3 weeks since the methotrexate injection.

I have a question about ectopics:  What were your symptoms?  I am currently 5 weeks and have had some pain on my right side.  I had a u/s last week at 4w 2d due to some bleeding I had experienced shortly before bfp.  Doc said my tubes looked clear but I wasn't far enough along to see the sac.  I am concerned about ectopic.  I had a similar pain with my last pg that wasn't ectopic.

Sounds like a good plan. My levels were fine at 5.5 weeks, but by seven weeks were lower than they should have been. Be sure to post and let us know how your u/s goes. Good luck to you. We are hoping that I will get pregnant again quickly. We have an apt with a ob/gyn who specializes in high risk pregnancy on april 14.

They monitored my hcgs last week because of the spotting but aren't this week 'cuz everything looked so good.  My next appt. isn't until next Tuesday-I'm having an u/s done.  I'm thinking about asking my doc to check my levels one day this week too, just for peace of mind.

I had no symptoms with this pregnancy. i had an u/s 2/24, and the tech saw a sac in the uterus, but when i went back on the 9th, that sac was no longer visible, and they located one in my left tube. I had two days of spotting early on, but it went away, which is why i was so shocked to learn about the ectopic, because I had one in may 1998, which i had cramping on the right side, and spotting, and the dr said it was normal, but then my tube ruptured which almost killed me. Are your hcg levels being monitored? Mine started out rising normally, but then slowed down.

daycare - not to be a bubble burster or anything.. but after my d&c my levels at 2 weeks post D&C were 655 - it took another 6 weeks to finally come down to zero.. The nurse told me that it is common for HCG levels to "half" every week..
So - just for your own sanity, I wouldn't count on your hcg levels to be back to zero for at least 3 more weeks... that is what the nurse told me in the beginning. Because it will drive us nutz just hoping for something.. especially with a high level like 2700. According to my doctor and the nurse at that high of a level, next week it will most LIKELY be at around 1350.
Dont mean to be a pessmist, I am just letting you know from my own experience.

Thanks for the info. We are at the point now, that we just want to know if there is a blockage in the tube or not. That will be the deciding factor on wether we continue to persue the dream of another baby. unfortunately, they can't do the hsg until i get my first af. SO, we are in limbo as our decision making goes till then. At this point it would be sad if we could not have another, but at least we would know, instead of all the waiting to see what will happen. If i knew one way or another, we could just put closure on this awful mess, and move on. Thanks again for the help.

I found out I was pregnant on Feb 1st, nothing in the sac, was given Mehtotrexate for ectopic, on Feb 17, it is now April and my numbers are going down very slowly. I was scheduled for a lap this week and they had to cancell it because my levels aren't 0 yet...Whys does this take so long? Does this mean if was definitely an ectopic? I have had many miscarriages and it is usually resolved by the time I get my period. Now I am on my second one and I can't down to zero/

IF YOU WERE NOT BLEEDING I WOULD HAVE WAITED AT LEAST 2 WEEKS OR LOOK AT IT THIS WAY MAYBE IT WAS FOR THE BEST AND JUST START OVER FRESH WITH A NEW PREGNANCY AND FEEL MORE CONFIDENT ABOUT IT.

thanks 4 the response,well i went back 2 the dr's today and my hcg levels didn't go up much at all it started out at 680, 864, 951, so i belive i did the right thing my husband feel alot better also and the idea of starting from scratch doesn't sound bad at all,the only thing we still have to wait until my levels return to zero and by what i read,it seems like its going to be a while b4 we can start over again, and i was woundering if i should stay off of my b/c because i also read that some ectopic pregnancy can come from b/c but i'm afraid that if i dont continue to take the b/c my period will turn into irregular cycles again, if any one has any info on that please let me know thank you

hi everyone , i just need to talk,My tubes were reversed on 12/13/05, I found out in the er on 4/28/06 that was about 1-3 weeks pregnant,(I had a period on 4/10/06 - 4/17/06)my hcg level was 558, because of pain i was back at in the hospital on 4/30/06 my level was 760, was back at the hosp. this morning and it was 880 Dr. said i was pregnant in my tubes so they gave me the injection of methotrexate. The dr also said wait for about 6 months to retry because the chances would still be high for another ectopic pregnancy before then. Has anyone gotten pregnant before 6 mo. and what happened if so? I am soooo depressed, sad and a bunch of other feelings,,,,,,,,

Hello i found out on May 2nd that i was having an ectopic pregnancy and it was in my left Fallopian Tube. I took 2 shots of Methotrexate that night. That night my BHCG levels were 780 and i was 6 weeks along. i got the shot on a Tuesday and went in that Friday to get my BHCG checked again and they were at 100. i went in again to have them checked again and they were at about 70. The doctor expects them to be at 0 either when i go in this coming monday or the appointment after that. but i have a question...do you have to wait until your BHCG levels reach 0 before trying again or do you have to wait for your period to come? i have been bleeding on and off since i was given the methotrexate and i dont know when to expect my regular period. if anyone could help that would be great! Thank you!

hello well i was told to wait until your levels were 0 before trying anything, i also had bleeding off and on monday the 15th my level was 108 so next monday i have to ge tested again and i was also told to wait 2-3 month before i ttc.
