hcg levels doubling every 4 days normal?

hi..im new to this board..this is my 4th pregnancy and one would think that by your 4th anxiousness wouldnt be part of the equation but it is :-)
i have had 3 different panels of blood work done for hcg beta levels.
on 2/10 it was 714
2/18 it was 8645
and on 2/25 it was 31,283
my ob is a little concerned(he is a high risk doc and a little on the conservative side) that my numbers arent as high as he like to see them. he said he would like to see them at around 90,000 and that my levels are doubling close to every 4 days. and of course i have to wait 6 days to go get an ultrasound to see if there is or isnt a heartbeat. can anyone relate? has anyone had numbers like this and go on to have a healthy pregnancy??

Your numbers are still increasing at a decent rate, they like to see every 2-3 days.  Also the higher the number the longer it takes to double (from what I heard).  

I've heard a LOT of stories where women have there numbers like you (sometimes even lower) and still have a healthy baby.  I do not, however, have a personal experience with it.  I didn't get my numbers drawn for my first two pregnancies, and only once for my third, so I never knew how much my numbers were going up.

thanks SO much for the response! i think im about 7 weeks along. in my heart i feel this pregnancy will be fine. but my doctor is extra cautious...with this said...at this point it is what it is...im just going to hope for the best!!! Thanks again

I had a bit of spotting and menstrual crampinf thereforei went to the emergencyroom. The doctor checked my HCG levels and they were going up but not as much as they would have liked to. They did an U/S and didn't hear a heartbeat. I was about 6 weeks along. When they got the results the doctor told us that we would miscarry and that the baby died.He even gave us his sympaties.He said that the hormones levels were not incresing enough.We went home devestatd! He had offered us medication to start the misscariage and we refused.We decided to let nature take its course. They gave us an appointment for an U/S a week and half later, just to make sure that everything was out of the uterus but the next day of going to the hospital the spotting had stopped and i have never bleed since. I went for the U/S thinking that they would give me medication then or a D&C . I couldn't wait for the misscariage to happen on its own anymore. I was getting so depressed, im just wanted to get it over with .greive and move on.The lady that was going my U/S asked me if this was for a follow up and i exaplained to her that the baby had passd away and this was just to see where we are at with the misscariage. She started the U/S and asked me not to breath for a moment and on the screen was a heartbeat and i could hear it also, so i just said, Oh is that my heartbeat and she said all i can tell you is that its defenitly is a heartbeat but its not yours.By then i was about 7 weeks and 2 days. We could see the little peanut like shape,it was moving and she even showed us its heart. We were so exited. We go back to the emergencyroom after the U/S to see the doctor for the results. It was the same doctor that gave us his sympaties the week before. He did confirm that there was a baby there for sure but they did find something else is the uterus and its too early to tell what it is.He also said that my hormones levels are only doubling every week. He said that it doesnt mean anything and we'll just have to wait and see.He said that HCG doubling every 2 days is just a guideline. I have another U/S in a couple of weeks. But at lease there is hope now.I just hope everything is ok and that my baby will make it full term and be healthy. The only concern that i have is that i have menstral cramping every day and i have had them every since i am pregnant
