hcg not doubles poor us visual

i hope someone can help me- my last period was 9/16/05- i went to the md to be treated for uti and abd pain -no bleeding- ultrasound was done the nurse said i was 5 weeks 3 days- the ultra sound tech said 6 weeks, anyhow a gest sac was seen but no yolk sac, no fetal pole- my hcg was 7,120, today i has another hcg (48 later) it did not double - increased to 11,400- i am not schedules for any more blood work and my next us is nov. 10th- what does this seem like? I am going crazy - I appreciate ant input...i have some period like cramping, but no bleeding- was the ultra sound too early? could I have an empty sac growing? are my hcg's not good?

too much attention is paid to HCG levels. They nearly doubled and not all women are the same.
And yeah the u/s could have been too early to detect any more than a gestationial sac. give it a couple of days, and jst wait to see how much can happen!
Congrats!! and I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months. And dont worry so much, its not good for the baby ;)

It sounds like it's too early to see much at all with an u/s other than the sac.  Try not to worry about it.  I know that's hard, I go in for my 8 week u/s in a couple of weeks and it's driving me crazy.  I keep thinking they will tell me bad news, like it's a blighted ovum, or ectopic.  If you haven't been having any bleeding, chances are you're ok.  I hope the best for you and your little bundle of joy!!!

They do say that they put too much emphasis on HCG levels. I know these will probably be a horrible two weeks but it might be best to wait until the 8 week mark to get another ultrasound. If you get it sooner, you might have unsure results and that might drive you even more crazy. Maybe you could try to do things to distract yourself, just to get through these next two weeks. Good luck. I do know what you're going through!

I dealt with similar hcg problems and went crazy waiting and wanting to know exactly what was going on. The truth is you do have to wait and try not to stress to much. My u/s at that point showed only a gestational sac. Any mention of a heartbeat? It may have still been to early for that too. It would have just been a flutter. I am about 2 weeks further along than you are and was about on the same track as you are now. Good news is when i went in for my u/s on the 21st of oct. it showed the yolk sac and the fetal pole and a good strong heartbeat. My guess is everything will be fine. I am sorry about the waiting it was horrible for me.

you all have been so great- iam terribly scared and stressed!!! the waiting is killing me---i was hoping things would go well.... i have a daughter who now is two!- she was born 27 weeks gest and was 2.5 lbs- so I have a hard time not stressing- all I keep thinking is an empty sac?????? and about the levels-
please keep me informed of your ultrasound results- lets hope we'll all be ok and delivering- what? about June??????;)

I just wanted to up date you ..... I had my us a few days earlier 11/05/05 instead of the 10th! my "empty" sac now has a yolk sac and fetal pole- not to mention a heartbeat 149!!!!! i cant believe it!

Congrats! That's phenomenal news. Once you have a strong heartbeat like you saw your chances of carrying to term are so much greater. My dh and I just m/c at 9.5 weeks and it's so great to hear stories with great outcomes. A happy and healthy nine months to you. Best of luck.
