Yep, tums helped me in the beginning, but it could not keep up with my heartburn by the end of the first trimester, and water also made it worse for me, so I would drink milk afterwards when I could, or take more tums. They actually made me gag though because of m/s, so I called my Dr. and she told me to take Zantac. Helped so much better till the end, then I could not control it again, but the Zantac still made it bearable.
I ate tums like candy during my pregnancy (well, not really but I did watch the amount I ate during the day) but the Dr. told me that it's safe to eat as many as you need.
Dr advised me to stay away from Rolaids as there is an ingrediant that could be harmful, cant quiet remember what it is...but Tums I eat like candy. I have heartburn when I drink water !
I also would drink milk...milk and water. Both helped me.
for me, water makes it worse!
