i was diagnosed with genital herpes type 1 about 4 years ago, ive only had one initial outbreak (i was told because its type 1 - contracted orally *blush*- anyways my dh had a cold sore yadda yadda, the probablity of reccurrent outbreaks was very low and i might not ever have one again)
i havent had an outbreak since, but tonight i noticed a dime size sore that was blister like, and feels like a herpes outbreak (although there is only one from what i can tell)
my question is, ive read about the horrible outcomes babies can have if they travelTravel sickness through an infected birth canal, im terrified that the baby will be affected, anyone know anything about outbreaks late in pregnancy?
ive been bleeding for the past two weeks, i was checked and the doctor said there was no active bleeding, and said only to worry if i soak a pad within an hour, and i havent as of yet, but still im bleeding red blood everyday, im guessing its from my cervix, but is there a possibility since i am bleeding that the infection could travelTravel sickness to the baby?
im calling the doctor again tomorrow to go in and be checked out, but i thought id run this question by all of you to see if anyone had any experience with a situation like this, i cant stop thinking that she will be affected....
I would think that if there is a danger to your baby's health, the doctor will probably decide to do a c section. I have no idea to be honest but it may be something to aswk.
i called the office today, and the receptionist said she would call me back when the dr sees her notes, he doesnt get there until 9, but she said more then likly they will put me on the valtrex, hopefully that will clear it up so i dont have to have a c-section, but if i do have to i will live, i just would rather go naturally, its just really scary with all the birth defects the baby could have if the infection is transfered
If you have an outbreak within 10 days of delivery, they will usually do a C/Section just to be entirely safe, but this can vary according to your doctors practice. Yes, if this is an outbreak you need to be on Valtrex. Sometimes they continue you on it until delivery.
