I was induced. They stated my pitocin real early in the morning and I had no real contractions. At 9:00AM my doc came in and broke my water.. OMG things moved along quickly then. I was only in active labor for 2 hours, pushed 45 mins and my daughter was born.  No time for the epid as they wanted me dialated to 5cm before they would do that. Well I dilated from 5 to 10 cms in 15 mins!!  Wow, it hurt but went by so quickly and it was worth it.

That was my first child too and they were surprised how quickly I delivered.

Oh, it is so scary and exciting to be induced.  You walk into the hospital knowing they will be inducing and you will be having a baby soon.  It's so surreal.  I was induced twice, my first baby was over 38 hours of active labor, pushed about 50 mins and he was out.  Second baby was closer to 11 hours, baby was crowning when they checked and he was out in minutes after sitting at a 3 all day.  It will be fine, you still have a good week to go into labor on your own, but no matter how your baby gets here, it will be soon.  Good luck and congrats!

I was induced on July 22nd, before i had gone in I was already dialated t a 2 and was 80% effaced.  When i went in he broke my water at 740.. at 750 they had my pitocin going.. i was starting to hurt and had my first epidural at 9. they placed it wrong so i had another one done at 940.  By 11 i was dialated to a 7.. at 1 i was complete.. i pushed for 2hours and 43 minutes.. the baby was turned the wrong way and i was small so he was having trouble moving into the right position but once he did it happened very quickly..

May I ask why they are choosing to induce? I was once scheduled for one but only b/c I was 13 days overdue.  (He appeared naturally 12 hours before his "date").

Why was everyone else induced?  It seems incredibly more common than it used to -- I only remember my mother telling me when she had babies the inductions were for convenience of dr's schedules.

I've had 3 on my own--all w/o induction-- one was 24 hrs, one was 45 minutes, one was 3 hrs. The only one I had trouble with was the one I had an epidural with (it killed the labor progress). If this last one (due at Xmas) doesn't see the lighted aisle leading out and flashing "Exit" signs  after three siblings and just walk right out,I don't know what I'll do.

I was induced with the first one a week and a half past due.  I had labor stopped at 36 weeks when they turned him.  We thought he would come sooner.  He was over 10 lbs. at birth so the next one they induced 1 week early to prevent a repeat of the last one.  He came out on his own, but I had such bad scar tissue and they worried I wouldn't stretch enough for baby #2.  My Dr. was all about waiting and even when it came time to induce she offered to let me go a few more days at first, but I seemed to be contracting and not getting anywhere on my own.  The first delivery was rough so they wanted to be sure this one was better.  My first baby had to be resescutated as he did not cry and was blue at birth.  He had the cord wrapped around his neck 3 times and should not have made it down the birth canal, but did.  Baby number 2 was just under 9 lbs.  Some opt for inducing to make it easier, but my Dr. was not one of them.

I was induced at 38 weeks as my blood pressure was through the roof.  They think I will also suffer from pre-eclampsia with any future pregnancies. I hope not though.. :(

My girlfriend suffered with Pre-eclampsia as well...She was hospitalized for two weeks, before they induced her (2 weeks early).  Her feet reminded me of that of an ELEPHANT...more of a ROUND shape to them.
Anyways, with her second one, she had no problems what so ever with it, so hopefully that will be the case for you too!!!!

What would I do without you. I would be lost!!....  Cool...Thanks that is very good to know. I was on bed rest with mine at 26 weeks.  That would be awesome to not have that again. When I had my IUD out my BP was perfect. it has always run low so I was very surprised when it got up to 188/96.  That is when they said ok, lets get the kiddo out. I was like heck yes!!

My girlfriend was on bedrest too...from early on...she wouldn't stay in BED though, so she was hospitalized to monitor the situation. (we were told it was a precaution...) She also never had problems with high blood pressure...guess it is one of those things???

As a matter of fact it is across the street from a park with a huge ravine. I bet you could do some serious damage in that. Providing me loads of entertaining fun.. :)
