just a quick question

just a quick question

ok i was told by my dr that i would definitly be having a planned c-section. now i know what goes on with having a c-section b/c that is how i delivered my son however it wasn't planned so i am not sure weather the dr will make me wait till i go into labor or if he will take her once i am considered full term or what. any of you who have had planned c-sections what happened did you get to pick a date or did your dr just wait till labor started and then took the baby. you can use this as an open forum as well thankyou

I went at almost 40 weeks and was basically able to pick the date. I loved the whole experience!

They usually do it at 38-39 weeks.  They will plan it ahead of time, not usually waiting for you to go into labor.  Sometimes you will get to give some input on dates that would be good for you, but often it depends on the doctors schedule, etc.

I am having a planned section at 37.5 weeks. He will schedule the appoinment and you will go to the hospital just like any other surgery.

My second c-section was planned and the dr told me that we would schedule it for one week before my due date so that I wouldn't go into labor.  When we looked at the calendar, one week before my due date would have been Friday 13th, and silly me, I didn't want this date, so we scheduled it for Monday 16th and everything was fine.

My dr is taking my son exactly one week before I am due.  I am due March 13th and having him March 6th.  So I will be 39 weeks.  I dont think they can do it before then unless you have a medical reason that it needs to be done due to insurance reasons.

thankyou everyone for all your repsonses atfirst i wasn't even sure why i would need another c-section just b/c i had a previous one b/c i was hopeing for a vbac but the dr says that the baby is breech but she does still have time to turn and even if she does i will have to have one b/c of the way they made the incision on my uterus for my other one. i guess they didn't make it the normal way b/c he was in such distress and they wanted to get him out as quick as possible and the dr says that also since i have a bicornuate uterus that he is afraid of my uterus rupturing during labor. so i guess my hopes for a vbac have officially been flushed down the drain i really wanted to experience that i just hope i don't get depressed about it again i was so depressed after i had my son b/c i had to have a c-section i don't know why and my mom kept saying to me well a c-section is easier you don't want to experience labor and i was like a c-section may be alot faster then labor but the pain you experience after is just horrible or atleast it was for me but i am a big baby with pain. sorry about rambling on about this i am just getting kind of nervous my due date is jan 28 time is flying by so fast and i am just not ready yet lol.

If it is a planned section, he likely won't wait until you go into labor because sometimes things progress very quickly for some women and you could end up delivering before the section. Therefore, I would say that you section will probably take place between 37.5 and 39 weeks. Best wishes!
