I read that if you are going to bleed, it is usually during week 6 or 7. I spotted one tiny bit during that time, was told to come in for u/s just to be on the safe side...to be ultra conservative they said bedrest for 24hrs and lots of fluids. Also no BD b/c it could cause the bleeding (actually so could vag u/s) and that could "confuse matters" (more cause worry in you, then docs). I am sure it is probably nothing, but call the doc to be sure. Good luck!
I had the exact same thing happen on Sunday. I have been freaking out. I called my doctor (not an ob, as I still am waiting to get in touch with one, my regular doctor gave me a recommendation for one at my first check up, which was a week ago). Anyhow my doctor said it could be nothing or something. Then, I am home for the holidays with my husband, and my mom called her obgyn, who also happens to be a friend. Her ob said that if it is brown, it is a lot less scary then if it is bright red. She said, since there is bleeding though I need to have an ultra sound. I am on week seven now (7 weeks and four days, but whose counting!) I am so worried. I am going to get the ultra sound tomorrow and will let you know how it turns out. I have heard that a lot of women do "spot" during the first trimester. But bleeding of any kind, they say you should call your doctor. Also, when it happened to me it was also a dark brown. It also (not to get graphic) seemed to come out after I had been pushing to go #2. I have been having a hard time going since I got pregnant. Ok, sorry gross details. I am going to ask the OB, if you have to be careful when going to the bathroom. Does anyone know the answer to this?
Hi. I don't want to alarm you but, I would call your ob/gyn. I had a similar thing happen to me at 5-6 weeks during my first pregnancy. I had lost my baby and ended up getting a D&C. Please do not worry. Call, and if they think you should be seen, they will tell you.
Try not to stress!! Spotting happens ALOT in early pregnancy, and my obgyn says it can happen all throughout pregnancy with some women. Take care & God bless!
OK, this should make you feel good. I went in for the ultra sound today and everything looked a-ok. The heartbeat was normal and the size was normal I GOT TO SEE THE HEARTBEAT AND HEAR IT! As I mentioned in my last posting I was freaking out over the brown spotting I've been having. When I went in, the doctor says it is extremely common, in early pregnancy, to have some brown spotting (and blood on toilet paper). She says it's not too much of a cause for alarm, because it is not bright red. Hope this makes you feel somewhat better. I am just so happy.
That does make me feel alot better. It only happened in the morning and I haven't seen any more brown spotting since. My doc said not to worry about it, unless like you said, it is bright red. I hope everything goes well for me, and I wish you good luck
Good luck to you too. I think that it is definately good that there hasn't been any more bleeding for you. I also think that, even if it is, as long as it is not a lot and is a darker brown it is not as much of a concern. But, check with your doctor if it does happen again. :)
Hi,
At six weeks I had brown spotting and ended up having a M/C. I have girlfriends though who had bleeding and spotting all through their pregnancy and the baby was fine. Best of luck. I'm crossing my fingers for you.
It could be totally normal and caused by intercourse--the penis can irritate the tender cervix and cause it to bleed a little.
But I am a person who always errs on the side of caution; I would rather be safe than sorry. Call your Dr and let them know.
