loss of heartbeat at 10 weeks

loss of heartbeat at 10 weeks

On this past friday I went for an ultrasound and was told by my doctor that she could see no heartbeat, they did an internal sonogram and said they were sorry but no heartbeat was detected. I have a D&C scheduled for Tuesday which is four days later and have no signs of miscarriage. I have doubts. Should there be some sign of natural miscarriage? Should I ask for another sonogram before undertaking the procedure? I am under alot of emotional stress should I prolong my uncertainty? Please help

hi, my names sara,im 23. I recently went through the same thing 5 months ago.it was the most devestating thing in the world! I had a D&C they told me after i had whats called a partial moler pregnancy.(not saying this is what you have.). It could be a number of reasons.
You could possibly be having whats called a missed misscarrage which is what i had.you shoud be able to get some sort of answers after a D&C is performed.

Please know this is not your fault in any way! things happen for reasons and i believe your lil angel will come back in time :)

I wish you all the best, stay strong xxx

I had the same thing happen at 9 weeks, with my twins.  I'm sorry to say that when they told me there were no heartbeats (this was after being able to see them clearly in earlier scans) there really *were* no heartbeats -- the tech had not made a mistake, the machine was not broken.  However, I didn't opt for a D&C, I waited to miscarry naturally, and that didn't happen for 4 weeks.  I had no symptoms for at least the first three weeks during the wait.

Since you're not entirely convinced, ask for another ultrasound before the D&C by all means, and don't hesitate to postpone if you are still unbelieving that the news is true.  You can always get a D&C once you are sure in your heart that this is what has happened.

Go to the doctor or ER if you get a fever or begin bleeding more than a maxipad worth in an hour.  Otherwise, there is no crisis-style rush.  Your body will do what it needs to do in its own time, which mercifully gives you time to get used to the idea of a D&C if that is where you end up.

Good luck, I've been where you are and it is so sad.  The only good thing was the time waiting gave me time to be sure it was true, and I'm glad I had that.

I had a missed miscarriage last year. I went in at 11 weeks only to find my baby stopped growing at 7 weeks. I opted to try and wait it out so that my body could do it naturally, but it didn't. I ended up having a D&C after three scans and I was sure there was no heartbeat. I know it is hard, but listen to you heart. If you feel you need a second opinion, then get one. It will not hurt to wait a few weeks. Miscarrying natural is best, but sometimes our bodies just won't let go. I am so sorry you have to go through this. Take care of yourself and know that there's nothing you could have done differently.
