low rise jeans the answer to maternity pants? for now?

low rise jeans the answer to maternity pants? for now?

Hi all! Well I've talked to a few people about maternity pants, they asked why I'm just not going to buy low-rise jeans. I figured they would still cut into your belly, very much so if your carrying low. I'm in my 20th week now, just starting to show. Was it comfortable for anyone else here to wear low rise jeans throughout their whole pregnacy? Or when did you stop? Just curious, thx :)

That was an idea I had as well for my current pregnancy, but unfortunately I have gained weight in my hips and butt so I can't get my usual side up :) hehe  I can't say if they are comfortable for a whole pregnancy, but if you're just starting to show, maybe they'd work for a while? I thought it was a great idea, I'll look forward to other posts!

Hi. I never wore low rise jeans (I am to big for that..lol even before pregnancy) but I think if you can get away with it and your comfortable then why not! As you grow, it will probably be more comfortable than the ones that go to your waist or above (like I wear). I say wear whatever is comfortable to you. :)

I am carrying low, and low rise jeans do cut into my belly. Unless I wear a size 9 or so. I usually wear a size 1 or 2 in maternity pants. So a size 9 looks pretty baggy on me. I would suggest wearing the belly band. You can get them at Motherhood Maternity. They are pretty cheap also. Under $20. That way you can wear your pants unbuttoned and unzipped. It feels good to do that......

for my first I was able to wear jeans the whole time ( I actually just bought jeans a larger size.  I do not believe low rise were in at the time), just under the belly.  For the other two I was not so fortunate.

The problem with low rise is that if they fit around your waist, they are too baggy on the legs or butt.  I wore gaucho a lot last Summer when I was preggo.  I guess they are not in this year.

You can also just use a hair band or rubber band...It's much cheaper!

Well to all you little preggo ladies.  I can't wear low rise jeans because I also have gained weight in my butt and hips!!  At first I did until about 10w and then I got fatter :-)  I'm in Large maternity pants and I'm 26w3d.  I was in a 6 before I got preggo with a with a 37pound weight gain who knows what size I will be afterwards :-)  I like the maternity pants better at least you can grow into them

I can still wear my low rise jeans at 25 weeks but I can't button them at all.  I got a lot of clothes from my friend though and she gave me two pais of jeans.  She gave me a pair of expensive Seven's and the other is the Gap Long and Lean.  I like both of them.  They have that roll down elastic band.  Much more comfortable that my regular jeans.  I know Old Navy has good jeans too -- I got several pairs of khakis there.

Oh, and by the way, I wasn't crazy about the belly band after about 20-22 weeks.  It was just too annoying everytime I went to the bathroom to get all that stuff neat again (many of my pants are from Ann Taylor Loft and they have that flap over button set-up so I had to get it just right under the band or it bunched up...it sucked.)

I also gained weight in my hips (2nd place besides the breasts that i gained). I was never crazy about the low-rise before (size 7), but I thought "hey I'm pregnant I'm supposed to be big with purpose" hehe  I appreciate all posts and will continue to read them. :)

p.s. I never heard about the maternity belt, what exactly does it do?

With my DD I really liked the feel of support on my belly.  So this time around, even though I can wear low-rise, I'm not planning to.  I've also ordered a BellaBand this time around-again, for the support.
