there are no medications for milk supply. there are some herbs and supplements i think but my doctor did not recomend them.

the best thing to increase your supply is lots of water, and rest. also try nursing or pumping more frequently. it will trigger you to start making more to keep up with the demand

Also  make sure that you are eating healthy and eating enough. About 500 extra calories a day is recommended.
You could benefit from calling a lactation consultant, either at your hospital or by calling La Leche.

with twins I never had  time to eat and drink enough and that's the main deal you have to eat right and drink tons but if you are like me my twins are 9 weeks old and I'm lucky if I have time to think about food let alone eat it or drink anything

There is also an herb called fenugreek (sp?).  You can get it at a health food store.  My doctor recommended it for me.  It help some.  Makes your urine smell funny but other than that it was fine.

Fenugreek and blessed thistle supplements, B complex, oatmeal daily, protein at every meal, lots of water, non-alcoholic beer if you can stomach it, and rest as much as possible (ha!)  For fenugreek, I read that the way to make sure you're taking enough is if you start to smell faintly like maple syrup.  Nursing mother tea can also be helpful.  Also, pumping after nursing with a hospital grade pump- even if you get nothing, keep at it for 10-15 minutes- it will stimulate more milk production.
Good luck and happy nursing!

There actually are 2 medications I know of-- Reglan and Motilium. I took Motilium when I  had Jameson because I didn't seem to be making enough milk. There are no side effects and it works quite well.
You have to buy it in Canada however. Look online if thats the route you decide to go.

I used fenugreek- both my doc. and lactation consultant said it was totally safe and I've used it on both kids.  It DOES work but doesn't replace drinking lots of water, eating healthy and pumping a little extra if you need to!

I tried Fenugreek  and my DS seemed to get really fussy while I was using it-  so I stopped and he went back to being not as fussy-  so I wouldn't recommend it,  but perhaps it was just coincidence that he got fussy while I was using it...  ??
