Hi~ I was given that a few years ago and it was very distressing to me b/c you have to wait for everything to happen. At some point I also had to insert a sort of capsule into the vagina. When my body started purging, the pain was more that just cramping, but I did not have to have a D&C. Hope this helps, and I'm sorry you have to go through this. Even just going to the ob/gyn makes me want to cry now. I believe the body holds on to its own tramautic memory.

I was given metho for an ectopic, but also had a D&C, so I only had spotting. Metho will dissolve the pregnancy, which will be absorbed by your body, so I believe the bleeding is less than what a natural m/c would be.

Don't be surprised if you start feeling really blue- metho is hard on your body, and can make the depression of losing the pregnancy that much worse. I also experienced some abdominal cramping and back pain. You'll be fine though, so don't worry. Your doctor will advise you when you can ttc again, but I've read that you should wait 3 months. I'll post the link to that article...just give me a sec. to find it. Sorry for your loss.

I had a shot Thursday afternoon (8/10/06), was sick and vomiting that night...bleeding cramping didnt start until Friday but was awful all weekend...is now tapering off. I am getting depressed...but am hoping thats just a side effect and will also go away.

I was given an injection of Methotrexate in March of 2006 to treat an ectopic pregnancy.  I was followed with repeat beta hcg level blood tests over a period of more than two months. The doctor was looking for the beta hcg level to drop to a level of 3 to ensure all material had been absorbed by the body.  In late May 2006, my beta hcg levels had gone down to 5 but by the next week had begun to climb to 8, then 22, then 48.  My doctor explanined that if you body does not absorb all of the material, that the placenta can begin to regenerate itself if even a tiny piece remains.  I was given another injection of Methotrexate in June of 2006 and have been followed with repeat beta hcg level blood tests since then.  Following the June injection, my levels dropped slightly, then rose, then dropped slightly agian.  My current level stands at 10 for (two weeks in a row).  The doctor believes that I will need to have surgery in order to rid my body of any remaining fragments that may be causing an elevated beta hcg level.  I first found out that I was pregnant in January 2006 and so 7 months later I am SO ready to be done with this!  I am wondering if anyone out there has had a similar experience?  I don't understand how surgery works when you are looking for something that is presumably so small-an assumption based on an hcg of only 10!
