migrains

I am TTC after I lost my Angel last July. Ever since I lost him, I have been getting daily migrains, mostly during my 2WW. So far, I have been suffering through them, but they are starting to get in the way of work, and are making me miserable.
I heard tylenol is fine to take during pregnancy, but is it OK to take in the first trimester? Its getting so hard to stay positive in hopes that my pain and misery might someday pay off...I suffered through the most horrible migrains 24/7  during my pregnancy and didnt take anything. I would walk around with ice packs on my head all the time.
It would be hard to explain that Im hoping this is my month at work, and people keep trying to give me meds, I dont want to say, "I cant Im on the 2WW!"

just plain tylenol is fine throughout pregnancy...you need to speak with an OB about your pain management options if the migraines are interfering with your life. while it is optimal to avoid medicine during the first trimester, it is not always possible. I had to take Tylenol#3 (tylenol with codeine) several times during the first trimester for severe migraines, and they were prescribed by my OB. there are things that your OB can prescribe you that will be safe to take that will help you manage the pain, and even things like vicodin are considered safe when the OB is monitoring you.

they actually say that studies show that protracted pain is worse for a growing baby than (safe) pain medicine, and your OB can help you determine if your pain is severe enough to affect a growing baby and require medicinal intervention.

but in the meantime, yes tylenol is absolutely fine to take during every stage of pregnancy although they recommend normal and not extra-strength, because the dose is so much higher. You can always call a family physician or OB and they can give you the recommended dose for you to take over the phone.

Good luck sweetie, I'm sorry you're going through all of this...I hope you get a BFP soon!!!!

I get severe migraines all the time. I was diagnosed with chronic migraines when I was 19. The only tips I have for if you're taking tylenol and you're still in pain is of course the ice packs, massaging your temples on and off. Just apply pressure for a few moments then stop then reapply pressure as needed. Lots of water helps too. When I was pregnant with my son, I would get ones that were so severe that I couldn't walk or move. I ended up in the ER and would get demerol (sp?) shots. I didn't like doing that because it would really decrease my son's movement for several hours but I know how hard it is do deal with them. I hope you get some options that work for you and that you too get a BFP :) Good luck!
