milk allergy???

milk allergy???

im wondering what your experiences are.. I am allergic to milk...I would get a sore throat, ear infections and a clear runny nose...DS has been off formula for a week and a half now...He never had any issues until the past 2 week he started the runny nose it's constant...it is that time of year and he just had rotavirus etc etc etc...anyways i am just curious to know if it started out this way with anyone else?? i am thinking about letting him finish the 4L of milk i have at home for him...and then try switching to the soy based to see if there are any issues...IF by the end of the week or so he still has that awful runny nose..

Be mindful that their tummies are a bit sensitive and maybe consider going slower with the transition between milk and soy.

My milk allergy is completely different from anyone I have ever met, except for my younger brother. He and I both develop small fluid filled blisters on our fingers and feet. I do have a mild form of lactose intolerance as well (stats indicate most do) so when I go on milk binges, I drink Lactaid milk. That may be something else to try. It is hard to say what component in milk you are allergic to.

My dd could not handle the milk when she started.  She turned one in January and by March they were wanting to tube her ears because she kept getting ear infections.  I did some reseacrch and started on Lactose free milk.  Within a couple of weeks all was clear.  She had the same type symptoms your lil one has. I would not recomend soy formula, only because some things I have read about it do not sound so good for a child unless necessary.  The Lactose worked fine.  She is now close to three and can tolerate the regular milk with no problems.  She is also not drinking as much as she was when it all happened.  Talk to your ped about it first.  Good luck.

My daughter is alergic (allergic) to milk and all its componets (not just lactose).  She cant have any milk.  Before she was diagnosed, she had horrible ear infections and fevers.
Shes also allergic to eggs, so her diet is pretty much limited.
Doctors have told me that after the 1st year milk is not neccesary at all for children

i was introduced to whole milk at 6 months of age.. i have an allergy to it..i get nasty sore throat, runny nose and the ear infections...i dont think cameron has any but the runny nose.. i began slowly introducing whole milk to my son when he was 11 months old and it took me a whole month and a half to transition him because i wanted to do it as slowly as possible...

i also was searching online and it says that milk allergies have no known cause however to be hereditary...lovely:S
