miscarried and getting pregnant again

Hi Everyone!  I believed to have miscarried.  I missed my period but then the last day that I would of had my period I got a heavy period for 3 full days.  I had an HCG test and it came back with my levels low the first day and lower the next time they were tested.  My doctor has assumed that I had a miscarriage.  I go this week to see her for a follow up on a miscarriage.  My husband and I have had intercourse since then and were unprotected will I get pregnant right away? and should I be worried about miscarrying again?

It is possible to get pregnant very soon after a miscarriage.  Several women on here have.  I dont have experience with it, but there are many on here who can help.  Good luck.

I had a miscarriage and a D&C on July 15th. I took a pregnancy test on Thur and it was positive.  I think I got pregnant 2 weeks after my D&C. Yes you can get pregnant and yes it is very scary...I am not ready to go thru another miscarriage if it happens.

I have read everything from you should wait to if you are emotionally ready try again. I think everyone needs to make that decision for themselves.
As in my case I thought I was ready and I wanted to try ASAP...now that is happened so soon I realized I am ready to be pregnant but I am not ready to go thru another loss.  I think you have to be ready for either outcome.

I agree with waiting a bit
Just to make sure your body is ready for another pregnancy right away (letting the uterus get back to normal.etc)
Any time you have unprotected sex there is always the chance of getting pregnant.
Not to mention the emotional feelings that go along with  having a miscarriage

It is very common to get pregnant right after a m/c. I doubt that it would be a problem at all especially since your m/c was so early on. I got preg right after a m/c and carried that baby to term just fine with no problems.

Thank you all for your comments they are helping me.  I was no more than 4 weeks pregnant when I miscarried.  I have not yet had a normal cycle it is still too early I have about 2 weeks to go before I am due for a cycle.  I did not have a d/c or anything.  I have an appt. tomorrow with my doctor as a follow up to a miscarriage.  I will keep you all posted.  Thank you again for all your messages.

Hi everyone. I had a miscarriage and D&C on July 10th-I was close to 7 weeks. I have not had my period yet but believe I ovulated last week so hopefully anytime now.. My doctor recommended that I wait one full cycle before we started trying again. She said this was to allow us to heal emotionally and also because there is a slight increased risk for miscarriage. However, she said a main reason she recommends this is so that when I would become pregnant, we would know exactly how far along I am as I would know when my last period was. I have a neighbor who had three miscarriages in a row including the last one being ectopic-was told to wait a cycle, didn't and has a healthy one year old so anything can happen. I'm thinking of all of you and hope those of you who are waiting for results get wonderful news!! This has just made me even more determined and ready to be a mom!

My HGC levels went up...they doubled.  I love to hear stories of successful pregnancies after a m/c.  Thank you for all your support out there.  I am going for a sonogram this week.

Just so you know... I swore I had symptoms again of pregnancy 2 weeks after my d/c. I took several pregnancy tests that kept saying +. I was nervous,but deep down so excited. It was (as most would've told me) Hcg left from the pregnancy I m/c'd. To be sure, my MD did 2 hcg blood levels. The first 103, 2 days later 80- so again,the tests were right in that there was hcg present,just not a new pregnancy. I had my d/c July 12th and finally had my period today Aug.22. ******that reminds me- somebody posted a website w/ a ttc plan- something like having sex every other day after day 8,etc- anyone remember the site??? thanks

I had my D&C on the 15th of July I tested positive on Aug 18 I went to the Dr. on the 19th my HCG levels were 1870.  They took more blood and I will find out today if they are going up or down.  I am very nervous.

How long did you wait in between your m/c and getting pregnant.  Did you go thru a cycle?  Did you have a D&C?
It helps me to hear someone else has carried a baby to term right after having a m/c.

My best friend had a m/c at 5 wks pg.  She got pg again right away, probably 2 weeks later, and she carried that baby to term.  She never had another period after the m/c.  That second pregnancy is now a healthy happy Jonathan who is 9 months old.

She did not have a D&C.  She started bleeding like a normal period but already knew she was pg, so she went to see the doctor right away.  They kept monitoring her hcg levels and they dropped from the hundreds down to zero in just a few days.

Thank you for your comment.  It makes me feel better to hear someone else carried a baby after a m/c.  You read different opinions about how long you should wait to conceive.  I think everyone should weigh their options and make their own decision on when they are ready. I felt ready...and I am ready to have a baby.  I just didn't take into consideration that I could actually loose another baby so soon and I don't know if I could go through that 1 month after my first m/c. I should hear today if my HCG levels are going up.  Wish me luck!!

I can't post a new question but please help me...

I had a d&c on July 22n'd, bled for 8 days then light light spotting for 2 days then nothing else. We started trying again August 5th 2 weeks after the loss. We BD July 30, 31 but he pulled out. so oficially we have been TTC since the 5th, several times a day maybe 3 times a week.  

I took a home test on Friday and Saturday, both said negative. The tests tested at 50 miu's.....

Monday I went in for a pelvic exam and had a blood test done. I get the results Wednesday (8/24) at 2 pm.

BUT today I took a HPT that measured 25 miu's and got another negative. So I am convinced I can't be pregnant. I have no idea when my period is coming or when or if I ovulated this month, I have had mild cramps here and there and I remember the 15th I had some pain in my left side for a little while, but I just dismissed it...

Doc said my period may be delayed because I may still have some tissue from the last pregnancy, but if that was the case wouldn't I be getting false positives instead of the negatives, I wonder if there is anyway that possibly I could be pregnant again, but I am so discouraged because of the negative home tests.... any advice? I wish I knew when I did or will ovulate

I think (from what ive read)  your chances are better if you only try once per day or even every other day

I had a D&C in February, and it took almost 6 weeks before AF came around.  After that, I was back on track with my 28-29 day cycle. You may want to give your body some time to get back to what's normal for you before ttc again. Or, if you ovulated late, then maybe you are pg, but just not far enough along to show up on a hpt. HI , right before I concieved my oldest child I mc four weeks before I found out I was preg with him. I have been told it is a lot easier to concieve right after mc or dnc but not to try. I also have a friend that MC three times in a row all within a few months and the forth time she was able to have healthy baby boy she said she concieved about five weeks after her last mc. Good luck to you and don't give up.

I miscarried naturally. I was about 9-10 weeks. I ended up in the er because I was hemmoraging but they just removed some tissue WITHOUT a d&c. I bled heavily for about 4 weeks. When I quit bleeding, I used protection for one cycle which lasted 32 days. I got pregnant during the next cycle. I ovulated like the day after that period which is abnormal for me. I took a test on day 18 of that cycle because I was having symptoms and it was positive already. I usually ovulate on about day 20.

I MC earlier this year.  It had taken my husband and I over a year of TTC to finally get pregnant.  It was devistating to say the least when we lost the baby.  I was only about 6 weeks along at the time.  

My dr.  tested my hcg levels and they were going down fine, so I was able to MC naturally.  When my levels hit 0, the nurse called to let me know, and she said the dr. said I could try again as soon as I wanted to.  

My husband and I began right away.  I had a feeling about 2 weeks after I MC'd that I was pregnant.  I waited until 4 weeks after my MC to take a test.  It was positive.  Since my HCG levels had been monitered closely until I reached 0, I knew the test should be right.  

I was very scared that I would loose the baby, but I knew that I would just let nature take its course as it was in God's hands.  

I am now nearly 16 weeks.  I have started feeling the baby move, and the heartbeat is very strong.  The doctor said the baby is very very active.  He could hear it swooshing around on the doopler.  It made it hard for him to get a steady hearbeat, but he finally did.  I go the 22nd of Sept for an US and hopefully I will be able to find out the gender of the baby.  

My husband left today for the Army.  We hoped he would be here to find out with me, but that is not the case :(


When you are ready to start TTC again, best wishes to you.  For me it worked out well.  After trying for over a year to get pregnant twice like that is wonderful.  I know I have a little angel baby in heaven.  Now I also have a new baby on the way.

I had a m/c last Tuesday, 18 September '07, I also had a d&c, I had no bleeding since the procedure, but starting heave bleeding yesterday, doc told me that he will not take it as a period but suggested that I wait a full month for my next period to start.  Do any of you think that it may in the slightest way be possible to get a period so soon after a m/c and d&c done a week ago?  Also bearing in mind that if I did not fall pregnant I should have had a normal period starting yesterday.

it's really nice to hear all the stories that everyone has shared on this it makes others in similiar situations not so hopeless. i m/c aug 13th it started out with light bleeding then it just got heavier throughout 4-5 days. had about 3 hcg tests done before the blood work went down to 0. the dr informs me i would beable to try as soon as i was emotionally ready to. so my husband and i tried a wk after i stopped bleeding. it hurt so much when i found out i m/c. it has taken my husband and i nearly 3 yrs till i got pregnant when i did i m/c.  it is now sep 12th i have been having symptoms again similiar to what i had during the time of pregnancy but i'm just  scared to take a pregnancy test and have it be negative but will eventually take a test by the 20th i'm praying that i am pregnant but only god knows so pls. pray for us.
