misscarriage

Hi i am few questions first of let me explain my dout

I was married last year and from then i on i was not using any pills for birth control and having sex. And after marriage my first period is on March- 9th 2008, and my second is June 2008, and my third one is on August 2008, and the fourth is on october-26th 2008 and the next one is Jan 31st 2009.

Jan 31st 2009 to till date i was having continous bleeding every day but i was having only little clots for the first ten days when i got to bathroom and after tenth day i was having little bleeding.

and i have done my pregnancy test(Equate)  for twice and i got the result as negative
So i consulted my doctor by phone and she suggested me to use regestrone 5mg capsules for 40 days.

Is it suggestable.

If am pregnant by chance is there any risk by  taking this medicine(regestrone 5 mg) . plz suggest me .

and how do we come to know  that i was misscarried.

what are precautions to be taken.

What it sounds like the doctor is doing is presuming that you just had irregular menses, not that you were pregnant.  The Regesterone is used quite often by doctors in India to regulate women's menses when they are not consistent.  They have you take it for a length of time and then stop, and then the period comes.  However, it is not useful if you are trying to conceive, as it can keep you from ovulating.

Did you ask your doctor on the phone if this particular pill is dangerous to take if you are pregnant?  If you key in "regesterone" in your computer's search bar, you will find a lot of posts asking the same question that you did, i.e., will it hurt a pregnancy.  I do not know the answer, and I think you should go to actually visit your doctor about the irregular periods rather than just have a consult by phone.  Very generally speaking, taking birth control pills in the beginning of pregnancy is not dangerous to the pregnancy, but I would definitely ask this question of your doctor (even by phone) before you take them.

Also, the way you would confirm that you had a miscarriage is to take a pregnancy test (either a blood test at your doctor's, or a home test); this will tell you if you are pregnant now or recently were pregnant.  Also of course, if you had a miscarriage, you would have symptoms such as bleeding and passing tissue.

What you had in January, with your lengthy time between periods and your negative pregnancy tests, could very well just have been the normal menses for you.
