my nine month old

my nine month old

I was wondering if what my baby eats is normal for a nine month old and if him sleeping only 9 hours a night is normal??
He has a 7 oz bottle first thing in the morning, then two hours later eats cereal mixed with formula.  For lunch he eats two number 2 jars of food for lunch.  In between lunch and dinner he has a 7 oz bottle.  For dinner he eats two more number 2 jars and then has another 7 oz bottle before bedtime.  Is this too much food b/c he is a big kid and seems to need it.  Just wanted to compare to other mom's with kids this age and see if its alot.

My baby turned 9 months just this past Thursday. His meals sound a lot like your sons. Mine has a six ounce bottle right when he awakes. About an hour later, he has a number 3 jar of "breakfast-ish" baby food. (fruit, fruitw/yogurt, fruitw/cereal)
For lunch he has 2 jars of baby food also (2nd foods size)--one food, one fruit. Then a 6 ounce bottle before his nap. Also another bottle when he wakes from his nap.
For dinner, the same as lunch. Then a 6 ounce bottle before bed.
So it sounds very similar to your baby.Mine is in the 70th percentile, so hes a little big for his age, but not gigantic.
At this age, they should still be getting 21-24 ounces of formula a day, so you are right on there. Also, if he seems happy with the amount of food he is taking in, thats a good sign its just right. When mine isn't hungry, he spits it out at me!! lol
If your baby seems content for a few hours after eating, then I am sure he's fine. I really don't think he would eat if he wasn't hungry.

My baby sleeps 8-9 hours every night. I don't know what the "average" is though. But that sounds about right, because at this age they are still taking a nap or two during the day.

my son is 8 months old and he has 7oz bottle when he wakes then 2 hrs later cereal with forumla, then another 4oz bottle b4 lunch, cause he wont drink a 7oz, then he has either baby yoghurt or fruit gel or fruit, then has another 4 oz in the afternoon, then dinner which is what we are having but plain and mashed, then a 7 oz bottle before bed.

my son sleeps between 8- 10 hrs depending on how busy day we have had

My son is a big boy (26 pounds at 8.5 months) so maybe my feeding advice isn't the best, but I feed him when he is hungry.  I'm feeding him formula and healthy foods, so I figure I can't really feed him too much.  He's eating what his body requires and I'm not giving him junk food, of course!

As for sleep, babies this age usually sleep around 13 hours per day.  A short morning nap, a longer afternoon nap and about a ten hour nighttime sleep is considered 'average' I think.
