need help getting ds off the bottle

hello.

my ds will be 14 months on 24th oct he is only a couple of weeks off walking and i think then he will take better to a cup when he can hold it while getting about. my dd went onto a cup from a week after she could walk, she walked on her first birthday. are there any cups anyone can recommend to help the crossover from bottle to cup? i have a cup for him (no handles) it has 3 holes in it, he starts to drink from it then pushes it away i think the liquid comes out too quick and that puts him off. he needs a soft tip cup for now as he is teething and his gums are very sensitive, have tried cups with a hard spout but he refuses to even drink from them.

thanks in advance
claire

These Nuby ones were the only ones my DD would use....and she wouldn't even use them for milk until about 14 mos.  I had her off the bottle at 11-12 months except for her milk....that was a hard transition...and then she only would take the hard top sippy cups for milk.

But she had all her teeth by like 9 mos....so there wasn't any teething or sensitivity issues with the hard top.

Ah - sorry.  We get them at Walmart here in the states....not Walmart or Targets in the UK, I guess.
I could send you a couple....

What about using cups with the plugs so they have to suck to get the milk out.  Also in the us we have cups that have small straws to drink out of.

deanne, thanks for that, think i might try one of the playtex ones as that has a rubberised teat on it, im prepared to go through cups to find the right one.

have 2 kids, the only cups we have here are ones for older kids age 3+ with straws, dont know about cups with plugs?

It took ages to get my first son onto cups for milk, he was fine with water and juice in any old sippy cup but milk no way!! I used the soft spout playtex and it worked a treat, about a month later we just went to the normal playtex with the hard spout no problems.

Claire, Avent makes soft spout sippy cups that are widely available in the UK.
