newborn with hypogycaemia

When I had a baby three years ago, a midwife allowed him to increasingly get worse because she ignored my worries throughout the day and he ended up in the special care unit with hypoglycaemia amongst other things.
Has any other mothers had this happen to them in a maternity unit and met with a useless midwife.

I'm sorry, I haven't had that experience. When you youngest was born and his blood sugar was dangerously low, they ran it again and took the appropriate course of action.

I am glad that you have not met with a useless inactive midwife like I did.  I have had four children in total, the last one after sixteen years at the ripe old age of 42.
So over the hill!!
Should have expected problems, trouble is no one told me about pre-eclampsia and the risks to myself and the baby.
All they ever bleated on about was having a downs syndrome baby and offered every test available to me.
The midwife ignored my concerns on the post natal ward three times throughout the day, and he ended up as an emergency admission to the special care unit with a glucose level of just 1.1.  The norm is minimum of 2.5mmols.
So at the moment it is in the hands of the National Midwifery Council, been waiting for over year and a half for some action, but fingers crossed should get it nailed this year.
Just one part of a very traumatic time having a fourth baby!
