no fetal heart beat

no fetal heart beat

Hi, I am very concerned and need someone to talk to.  At my first ob visit, according to my last period I should have been 8 weeks.  However,  I do not have regular periods.  When the Dr. did the US he said he could not see anything in the sac then said he saw a yolk sac. The us showed me at 4 weeks and 5 days  He told me that I was probably having a misscarriage and told me to call him if I had any cramping or bleeding and he would do another us in a week.  When I went back a week later we saw an embryo with a fetal heart rate of 90 and the us showed me at 6 weeks. He still said that I was probably miscarrying and that he would do another us. in one week.  I went back yesterday for another us.  I swear I saw the babies face.  He said that it was really fuzzy and that he could not see well but that he could not find a heart beat.  I  know that I saw that same flicker that we saw the week before and found a heart beat.  He again said that I was probably having a misscarriage and said to come back in a week.  I told him no that I would come back in two.  I want there to be some change when I go back.  I feel like my OB is dooming my pregnancy from the beginning.  Isn't it normal sometimes not to find a heart beat at 7 weeks.  Hasn't that happend alot and then later everything is ok.  Please give me something to hold on to.  I feel frustrated with this Dr.  I had a misscarriage a year ago and it was horrible.  I do not want to go through that again.  Last time there was no baby, I had a blighted ovum.  This time there is a baby.  Please help!

It is possible that everything is ok. I would just trust your gut instincts and just go with it. If you wanna go back in 2 weeks then go back in 2 weeks unless problems arise. Take care, and we will pray for you.

Thank you so much for all your comments.  I just feel that he only took 15 trying to find a heart beat and the us was really fuzzy.  I don't think he tried very hard.  I am going to wait out the 2 weeks.  I have horrible morning, afternoon and night sickness  I can't hold anything down which makes me feel like everything is ok.  I will continue praying.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Is there any chance you could get a second opinion? I'm surprised a doc would tell you that you are probably m/c with a h/b of 90 at 6 weeks. Many women here have had that type of h/b and gone on to success. If he couldn't find the h/b and you swear you saw something, then to ease your mind go to someone else, but it's hard to argue with a doc who has been doing this for years. Is this a new doc? No one here can really give you anything to hold on to. It's all unknown. But I wish you the best of luck. I have had a m/c and I know the pain and loss you feel when it happens. My fingers are crossed for you.

You either need to get a second opinion  Or wait your two weeks out  take the u/s  The baby should be bigger and more detectable, Many of us have suffered a miscarriage, unfortunately it is one thing out of our control, Waiting is the hardest part. Keep praying and hoping
Good Luck

There is a possibility hat your doc is right, but there have been SO MANY cases of not being able to find the heartbeat and the baby still ends up OK. I have experiences both in my life. My sister, with both her pregnancies, was told at 9 weeks that there was no heartbeat. She now has 2 healthy kids. However, I was told at 6 weeks with one of my pregnancies that there was no heartrate and to expect to mc. I did. You HAVE HOPE and you MUST hope and pray for the best but also expect the worst. Please keep up updated and good luck. Maybe you should get a second opinion! Go to the er of a diff hospital??

Betty _ I'm going thorugh the same thing right now. I am 7 weeks pregnant, and they saw a low heartbeat (111) and a gestational sac that was dated over one week earlier than it should be.  But my dr. said this isn't necessarily bad news, and to stay cautiously optimistic. The baby may just be younger than you think.

I think you should focus on the good things - First of all, you have a heartbeat!! Most miscarriages occur in the 1st trimester because the baby stops developing even before there is a heartbeat.  Second, your hormones aren't dropping...otherwise you wouldn't be having these symptoms. Third, doctors are notorious for hastily making judgments.  I think you are really smart to wait.  Try to stay busy these next 2 weeks. This is out of your control.

If this pregnancy is meant to happen, it will.  If not, your body will ultimately take over, and the bleeding will start.  When this happened to me 2 years ago, I never even got a heartbeat.  And by the 3rd ultrasound, the doctor could see that I was about to start bleeding because she could see the gestational sac pulling away from the uterus.  Your doctor didn't see any such thing! So hang in there and stay positive!!!

Hang in there!! 111 is actually not a bad heartrate... you'll probably be just fine (anything over 100 at that gestation is generally considered ok) and it's totally normal for your dates to be a week off- you probably just ovulated late.

Betty- I'll give it to you straight. It doesn't sound good. a heartrate under 90 doesn't always end in miscarriage, but the majority of time it does... and you are right- heartbeats aren't always detectable by 7 weeks, however- if you saw it at 6 weeks you should still be able to see if at 7 weeks and the fact that your doc could not detect it is a big red flag... if I were in your situation I'd pray for the best and brace yourself for the worst... not trying to be mean, just honest.

I'll pray for you. I hope everything ends up ok. please let us know how it goes.
