no fetal pole

i went to the dr today and i had a vaginal u/s done no fetal pole was noted.  a yolk sac was noted and my hcg levels are 13,000. My dr says a miscarriage is probable since no fetal pole was seen with my hcg levels this high. I get a u/s done in one week again. Has anyone been in this situation with levels this high?

How far along are you? Sometimes it's too early to see a fetal pole, it can take up to 8-9W to see a fetal pole.

Hello i was in the same situation. I went in with so much excitement for my first doctor's appointment and left with my heart broken. I found out I was pregnant very early on. I was 4wks pregnant. Since I have had a couple of m/c my ob wanted to do an early ultrasound and they didn't find anything, just and empty sac. Immediately he wanted me to have a d&c and usually I am a very impatient person but I wanted to wait. Again I had another ultrasound at 6wks and my hcg level was 13000. They still saw an empty sac. I couldn't wrap my brain around what the doctor was telling me. "You're pregnant,but there is nothing there." He still wanted to do the d&c and I still refused. I had so much support and love from my husband and friends that I just believed. My pregnancy symptoms continued and yesterday at 8wks 1day I went and had another ultrasound when my hcg levels were 65000. The tech found the yolk sac and a very strong heartbeat. Not only was my husband there, but we had invited the ob who didn't believe. My advice is that you know your body better than any doctor does. Believe in yourself and surround yourself with positive people. I will keep you in my prayers.
