no heart beat at 6wks?????

no heart beat at 6wks?????

hi i had a u/s to date my pregnancy since i was on birth control and i offed them some dates that i THOUGHT might of been my lmp but told them i wasnt positive. they said the baby was 6wks with no hb. they also said that i should be 8wks. and the baby died 2wks ago. now i have pics of the u/s it looks like a normal 6wk baby to me. how would they know if the baby died 2wks a go if this was my first u/s and i told them i wasnt sure of my lmp??? i know i have read that sometime the h/b is not detected till 8wks. by the way i had a vaginal u/s if that matters. also they did not do a 2nd u/s a week or even a few days later to be positive they had schedualed me for a d&c that night. needless to say now its too late and now i have many qusetions on this subject and just looking for some info i do not feel comfortable talking to the doc since he did not make me feel comfortable at the check up after d&c and was rather rude to me. thats in advace for any input on this subject. kimmy

I'm very sorry for your loss. Through a transvag u/s, by 6 weeks you should see a heartbeat. I know it's devastating and unfortunately too many of us have gone through the same thing. I had a d&c in Nov and am currently 5w6d pg so hopefully that will give you some hope that it doesn't take too long to get pg again. Lots of babydust to you.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Please dont think thoughts like that though.  You have to know that the drs have to be pretty positive to give you a d/c.  I know you hear horror stories about babies that are still alive and such but there is a horror story for every situation.  when i had a m/c i had an u/s done at 6wks and they did not see a hb.  i ended up m/c naturally 10 days later.  the dr said at that age its hard to tell and i am sure it is but i think they were being nice because i work in radiology and most times when someone m/c's you dont see the hb.  But again, everyone is different.  Just know that you did nothing wrong and you will have a happy healthy baby.  Best wishes.

sorry for your loss.  im also sorry your doctor was rude...he has obviously never lost a child and has no clue of the heartache and questions that follow.
i'll be thinking of you!

I lost a baby at 6 weeks and they could not find a heartbeat and based on the shape of things, they knew I was going to miscarry. I miscarried naturally.

I to lost a baby because of no hb.  My loss happened at 10 weeks 2 days.  Baby measured 9 weeks.  They also measure the size of the sac around the baby to see how big that has grown.  Your sac may have measured 8 weeks.  My baby's death was diagnosed through ultrasound and they scheduled my D&C for 2 days later.  I also doubted the doctors and the technition.  SO the day of my surgery i had a 2nd ultrasound.  I insisted it was performed.  I knew in my heart of hearts that the doctors were correct, but i just had to see 1 more time.  best we can do now is take care of ourselves and try again.  Good luck to you and I am so sorry for your loss.. Unfortunately we all know exactly how you feel..

I am sorry you are going through this.  My 1st appt., the baby was 5 wk 6days, too early to detect hb, my doc said it should develop in the next couple of days.  2 weeks later, I went in for my appt. my doc said the heart never developed (via vaginal U/S).  I had a d&c 3 days later.  If you want to, you can definately go to another doctor for an U/S to get a 2nd opinion.  I trusted my doc and she said the best thing is to do a d&c since my body didn't expel the baby on its own.
It's the hardest thing I have to deal with in my life.  Please be strong and take care of your body.  You will see your baby some day.

Hello All,

I also had a m/c at at 10 weeks back was only 8 weeks. I too did not hear a heart beat. We all have to remember that this happens for a reason, maybe something terribly bad was going to happen to our babies. When they did my d/c they found a cyst on my lef ovary and now are going to operate to remove it. I am 29 years old and my doctor say I will make a full recovery and will be able to start trying again in April. So see if I never would have had the miscariage they never would have detected the cyst on my ovary.

I too want a child very badly and it will happen to us all we jsut have to have faith.

Good luck to you all.

hi everyone,
i had my u/s today and got to know that my baby is 4W whereas as per doctors i am 6W2D pregnant (based on my LMP)... also when they could not find the baby last week they told me that it could be an ectopic pregnancy.. thats sacred the hell out of me and my hubby... they have called me again on wednesday.. they feel that the baby is not growing well and as a result i need to take a lot of rest.. i am an indian based in tokyo and hence there are language issues as well.. docs do not give a lot of info voluntarily and as it is my 1st pregnancy i am not sure if i am asking all the questions... its a bit worrying... alsi i have a lot of backpain now which the doc. is not too concerned about... any comments would really help me.. thanks neepa...

I know how you are feeling with the doubts.  I have to believe that it is only natural to feel this way.  I too, had a miscarriage, went for the u/s and no hb.  At first, I didn't want to believe it, maybe they were wrong but I know in my heart that they were right.  I was scheduled for a d&c 2 days after the diagnosis. Only time will heal the wounds and hopefully next pregnancy will be Ok.
My heart goes out to you!

I'm sorry to say but it sounds like you might end up having a miscarriage.  Are yo having any spotting or bleeding?  Is the pain in your back and do you feel nauseous?  These are the symptoms of miscarriage and these are the symptoms i had when i had my miscarriage four weeks ago.  I was 6 weeks pregnant at the time.  Have they checked your hcg levels to see if they are where they should be and if they are doubling?I truly hope everything goes well for you and best of luck

hi...
thanks for the note...i had my second u/s today and there were some mixed news... my g/s has grown from 10mm to 15mm in 5 days and my fetus now measures 2.5mm... doctors were able to find h/b as well... but the only concern they had was it was not a normal h/b count.. mine was 154bpm whereas doc was looking for abt 200bpm... i am not sure if i need to worry about this... also she has NOT advised any vitamin tablets so far.. is this normal?? i.e not advising vitamin tablets for a 6w pregnant woman?? i really thank for all the comments as they really help me.....
