They can do a tubal ligation immediately after childbirth, depending on the condition of mother and baby, and each particular hospitals policies.

I've never seen them completely remove someone's tubes after childbirth.

I have never heard of removing your tubes completely but I know they can either tie your tubes or I have also heard of burning them.  I also know a girl that got a full hysterectamy (not sure if the spelling is correct).  It does depend on your dr and the hospital too what you are allowed to have done!

They will not remove the tubes themselves but can perform a full hysterectomy therefore removing the uterus.  This is something that you should definately discuss with your doctor.

If this is your first baby,  and you're just 24,  I don't know many doctors who would do a tubal  with no other complicating factors that would put your health at risk with another pregnancy.  

The likelihood that you would eventually want it reversed is SO high.

On the other hand,  if you already have several children it seems more likely a doctor would do this.

RockyRose has a point!  That is true, being that you are only 24 years old, they may not want to do any type of surgical procedures on you with the possibility that you might want more kids in the future!  What they might try talking to into doing is getting an IUD like Mirena!  My dr told me it is the next best thing to abstinence, although, it is not 100%.
