not a so good update.... peek

So I took my Blood sugar and ate and yeah.... It didn't work. In fact I got one of the worse readings I've ever got... 240. So I took it again 10mins later to make sure the first reading wasn't flawed and it was 263. They say come to the hospital if it's over 200, but every time i do... by the time i get there it's under 200. I dunno.... I have doctors apt tomorrow.... I don't want to go on insulin!!

did they give you instructions? mine are so meticulous.

i take a shot, then have a 30 minute window to eat. i test my blood two hours later and then eat again. i have to keep testing every 2 hours after i eat.

the shots aren't so bad. honestly. i hope this is just you starting to normalize.

No my instructions were to just take this medicine every 12hrs. Then test 1hr after i eat. I didn't get very distinct directions.. Take this medicine. Let me know if it drops too low, and the hospital tells me to come in anytime its over 200.

What did you eat?  How much? Are you drinking soft drinks or fruit juice?

You probably need a controlled diabetic diet, first and foremost.  But you may very well wind up on insulin eventually anyway.

Does the doctor know you only just now started the meds?  They take a while to work.

I had a chicken cordon blue.... and I didn't even eat all the bread that came with the sandwich plus I shared some with my dog lol. It just saddens me since I've never had this problem and have always been able to eat w/e i wanted. I went to dinner tonight and had a salad and some veggie soup. Hopefully that won't do too bad so we will see.
No he doesn't know. I will tell him tomorrow at my apt.

When I was DXed with GD I was so worried about getting low sugar because I was put on insulin and my endocronologist assued me that pregancy is a very "insulin-resistant" state and it's very hard to get low sugar. If you end up having to go on insulin, it's not that bad. You're already testing your sugars 4 times a day so this is just an additional step.

I only had to inject myself before bed because I was able to control all my sugars by following a strict diet except for the 1st morning sugar. Good luck.
