not sure????

hmmmm... i am quite new to all of this.  my husband and i have been TTC for 3 cycles now, and though i am just sort of beginning to understand the tracking and paying attention to EVERY blessed symptom and then some, i am afraid i might just be fooling myself.  normally i ovulate the same time every month, and i always feel ovulation pains.  i felt them 3 days earlier than i thought i would.... i took a home ov. test that night and there was no LH surge detected, but i still felt the pain ( also earlier in the day i had a sudden sharp pain in my ovary that literally made me stop in my tracks, but lasted only seconds, i had never felt a pain like that before)  we BD the day before i felt the O pain, the day after, and last night.  NOW the LH surge is detected, but i feel no O pain.  am i crazy, or just freaking myself out?

LH surge detects a rise in the hormone level which means you've ovulated... sperm can survive for 5 days so I say that you BD for a couple days before you actually O'd might actually make your chances higher since the egg only survives for a 24 hours period.

oh, i thought the LH surge was detected before ovulation... so when i felt the pain i was ovulating?

The LH surge is produced when you are about to/are ovulating... it just charts the rise in the hormone level. If you got a positive a couple of days after you "thought" you ovulated you should be fine because it is still in the desired time period that you had sex.

THe LH surge acutally happens 24/48 hours BEFORE you ovulate.  When you see the surge you shoudl BD that day and the following 3 days..plus a few days before-- or every other is recommended also.
Sometimes the Surge is seen 72 hours befor but that is very rare..This is why some people get 2-3 days of positive OPKS- they catch the beginning and the end of the surge if they test more than once/daily..(like me -- a POAS aholic)

Hope to help
