oh someone please answer this for me

I am ttc for quite some time now, I have to have an HSG. Is it safe to conceive immediatly after HSG or do I have to wait until the next cycle.

Actually, my doctor says that many women get pregnant after HSG's (opens up anythign that might have been a little blocked).  I fully plan on trying this month and I had one 3 days ago (ouch!! - by the way!!)

It is safe to conceive the same month. You just must not be pg when they do it. Make sure to take about 800mg Motrin before you go in. The test itself is very uncomfortable, but not usually very painful. Afterward though you may have a lot of cramping.

I had one at the end of November.  I had both tubes blocked and only one was able to get cleared.

My doc didn't say anything about refraining. We tried that cycle. And I am thinking that I did conceive but it didn't stick and I miscarried.

From what I have read, the HSG can increase your chances of conceiving to 30% (verses the normal 25% for most healthy women) for the next 3 cycles,especially if they use the oil based dye.  But also the oil based dye increases chances of infection.  I had the water based dye.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I got lucky and had a wonderful x-ray tech. It was just him and the female chap. My doc wasn't there for it, since the tech is very knowledgable and experienced with this test. I cramped when he inflated the balloon to keep the catheder in. Otherwise it wasnt too bad.
