okay..opinion poll....best stroller out infant to toddler

by decogrl, May 12, 2007 12:00AM
What in your opinion is the best light weight umbrella style stroller out there? I have read so many mixed reviews.  I want one to last but not pay over 120 for it.

McClaren make some good ones which are very affordable. I am in Europe though so not sure how helpful that would be for you.

I just love my Chicco umbrella story.  I haven't had a chance to use it yet though since I'm not due for 4 more weeks (although that's so soon!  :)).  Anyway, all of the reviews on it are great, and it seems very easy to maneuver.  Here is the link...

I also got the Chicco travel system which I think is awesome as well!  Good luck!  :)

I just have a graco one from K-mart the car seat combo, and I really like it it's very conventant to just clip the carseat into the stroller.  Don't have to wake baby up.  But don't buy it unless your going to put it to good use, cause they'll out grow the car seat in a short time.  But I really like it, the car seats actually i like better without the base then with it, because the baby isn't siting straight up, our dd's head falls forward so we just strap the carseat in with the seatbelt, and it doesn't take but a half a second longer.

I guess what I need to clarify is that I already have a stroller that my 8 month old outgrew and I am looking for the best replacement.  Something I can take on plane trips, for everyday use, has good sunshade, and fully reclines.

Anyone hear anything good about the Britax??

i have the peg perego OH (one hand). it is very light. i think it weighs 11lbs.  and i think it will hold a child up to 35 or even 40 lbs (not quite sure, you might want to double check). anyway the weight capacity is good for me since my 8 mo old ds is big and i would like to use this stroller for a while. and it's so lightweight and it opens very easily, hence the OH in it's name. i think it goes for $199 but i think it's worth it. good luck in your search, it took me a while to decide on a stroller too when my ds was ready for a bigger one.

if i understand you correctly, you are using an infant carseat without the required base. this is just my opinion, but i think the base is VERY important. i know what you mean, it seems like the baby is sitting up too much, but god forbid there is an accident the base holds the carseat in place as much as possible. much more so than a seatbelt. you might want to reconsider how you are using it. the carseats are made to snap into the base more so for safety reasons than for parents convenience.

I got the chico travel system too and the pack and play.  I haven't used them yet either because I'm not due till Aug but the car seat looks really comfortable and I love the material!!   It looks so easy to clean

I just buy the  cheap kmart one. for $15.  I think there is a model up that runs around $25.  The first one I purchase lasted through two kids.  I'm getting ready to buy another one for my current baby.  I have a jogging stroller that is much heavier and can run over any terrain which is nice but it's absoluetly not convenient.  This cheap little umbrella stroller has been used for airplane trips, mall shopping, etc..  None of my children have ever been injured or dumped out of the stroller either.  If your not looking for anything with bells and whistles, really is the way to go.  I'm really not sure why people feel the need to spend huge amounts of money on certain items.  Not my money though so they can purchase whatever they want.

Thanks for asking that question.  I was wondering the same thing.  In fact we do have a stroller but need an umbrella for it.  I need to look who makes (we haven't used it yet) but we'll need to open it soon since Ariella outgrew her Matrinelli stroller.

I just purchased the Inseglina Trip umbrella stroller.  It has a great recline, better so than many others.  It is on sale at buybuybaby.com for $119.  Weight 14 lbs, but folds up like a umbrella which is what I was looking for.  Also great colors, I bought an all black one so it will stay clean.  Reviews look good and stears great.  Good for about 3 months and up.  Also has a foot rest that you can put up and down and very tall handles, which is great if you are tall.  Other websites list this one at $179 but I paid $119.

I was also at BUY BUY Baby yesterday and looked at several including that one.   I did not see a huge difference between that one and the BRITAX and the Britax was $70.00 versus 120.00.  I really don't see a big difference --I just really want something that offers sun protection and full recline as my baby gets sleepy often on outings and I want her to be able to lie back and sleep if she wants.

The britax had the bar in front and I did not want that because I already have the peg perego aria OH which is my mid size stroller and has the bar.  Did you look at the Inglesina Swift?  It is also on sale and looks the same as the trip.  I think you cannot go wrong with any of them.  This is my third child and hopefully by now I have bought the right one.  My husband will kill me if I buy another stroller.  My peg perego is good, but I think it is made cheeply and the Trip seems alot stronger.  As I said I really like the height handle and the leg rest that goes up and down.  Britax products are great and I am sure it is made well.  How much does the Britax weigh?

Looked up on the Britax and it weights 17 lb. and also reclines with the string which is how my Aria reclines and I find to be a pain.  I wish there were more lighter umbrella strollers that have the features we want!

by mum2beagain, May 12, 2007 12:00AM
Inglesina definately, compact but with all the features and sturdiness off a bigger stroller, my 3 years old still very comfortable in his.

by cutiemama, May 12, 2007 12:00AM
I have a peg perego venezia & an inlglesina swift and I love my swift. It's so light but still has all the great features.

by mum2beagain, May 12, 2007 12:00AM
