one pos. test and one neg. test

i took a pregnacy test, one said positive, and 2 hours the other one said neg. then that night (yesterday) i got my period, but i got my first period with both of my kids . so which is it? and why would one say yes and the other say no? help.

I would take another test and use the first urine of the morning which is the most concentrated.  It is very rare to get a false positive on these tests but not rare to get a false negative.

Or you can go to your Doctor and have a blood test which would be most accurate.

thank you, but i did start bleading will that effect the test in any way. i am just so lost and confused, and i cant get into the doc for a nother 2 weeks!!!

I would also retest in a few days just because you think you got your AF it may not be actually if you are in deed pg, I would wait a few days see if the bleeding stops, and if not I would test again with a whole different brand and use first morning urine.  It shouldnt affected the test I wouldnt see why it would.

If you got a period with your other kids I would say go ahead and take another home test. Walmart has the two pack for under 10$. Just make sure you take it in the morning with the first pee.  The blood shouldn't effect it.  You can catch the urine in a dixie cup and then dip the stick to make sure you don't get any blood on the stick. If you get two BFPs on a home test, I would say you are preggers girl!

In the mean time start taking a good multivitamin, just in case.

I am not sure why you would get a false postitive, unless you experienced a chemical pregnancy. It is very rare to get a false positive on the home tests.  There should be a 1-800 number on the package insert, they would be able to tell you what can cause a false postiive.  I would still suggest taking another test tomorrow morning, and if that one is positive, take another one in about 5 days.

Yes, you will probably want to take another hpt in a few days and not completely dismiss this as "it's my period, I'm not pg".  

You got that positive result for a reason - you just won't be able to determine exactly what's happening for another few days.  Sorry!!

A bfp is usually just that. If you're really early in your pg then the next one u took may have been too diluted. A bood test will give u the answers no matter I'd you're bleeding or not. Good luck.

i looked up chemical preg. on google and it seams that the fales pos. is made when u take the test to soon. (before ur period is due) i was 15 days late and i cant figure out if it is possible for a chemical preg. answer at that stage. i dont know maby it is just that i am tring to find a answer, i guess i have to waite but i really do suck at that, sorry if i am irratating any one.

I would take another test soon.  Just make sure it is first morning urine.  

As far as it being a chemical pregnancy, yes, it could be.  By 15 days late, you should be showing positive on a pregnancy test by now -- unless you have ovulated really late in your cycle.  

It could be a chemical pregnancy or a blighted ovum.  Here is some info on it.

A blighted ovum happens when a fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterine wall, but the embryo does not develop. Cells develop to form the pregnancy sac, but not the embryo itself. A blighted ovum usually occurs within the first trimester before a woman knows she is pregnant. A high level of chromosome abnormalities usually causes a woman

if you bought one of those early detection hpt, it could've detected a chemical pregnancy which is basically a fertilized egg that either implants but doesn't have enough time before AF and it washes it out or it's fertilized and never implants and raises hcg just a bit, but enough that the early hpt detect it.  It just means you're not preg., but if you started your period like you did in the past, I'd take another test or go to the doc for blood work.  Good luck!

on the PG test were they the same brand test?  If they were different brand they show based on hcg levels.  Some test will should pos with very low hcg levels where others will not should until your hcg levels are 100+.  I know this because I took a HPT and it said neg even after my doctor took a blood test.  I will be 7 weeks on Monday.  Good luck.

hi every 1! ok... so far ive taken 3 pg tests... 2 first response that came out positive... `n 1 e.p.t that looked like a positive... the second line that over laps it to make it look like a positive (+) was light `n i know that means positive to. my question is do you think that my tests could be wrong `n im really not?

I need help. I already have two kids, one has down syndrome and the other  doen't. I have had a miscarriage my last pregnancy. Other than that  I have missed my period and had one pos test and one neg test bt still no period! HELP
