This forum is great! Thanks for all the info!

I am wondering if anyone has any tips for me. I am 11 weeks and Ive lost about 9 lbs because it is really difficult to eat. I have not thrown up just constant nasuea and food repulsion, no appetite. It doesn't seem to be easing. I think this is normal but does anyone have any suggestions?? I ve heard crackers, toast but this is just as difficult to eat as anything else.
Thanks!! and open forum for the day!

are you taking prenatal vitamins or just folic acid.  i had to stop taking my prenatals for the first three months and just take folic acid because they were making me even more sick than usual.  here are some things to try also: watermelon, ginger tea, ginger snap cookies, peppermint tea, peppermint candies, and bananas.  i had to have peanut butter and banana on my toast every morning or i would be extremely sick.  it is normal to drop a few pounds in the beginning also, it should get better after the first trimester.  good luck to you.

just another quick question, does anyone else get regular yeast infections and do you know if they affect your chances of getting pg greatly?

by BlueBirdSchless, Jun 03, 2006 12:00AM
I've heard a lot of people loose weight in the first trimester. A freind of mine had to wear a little medicine box on her hip with a catheder running it into her periodicly cause she couldn't eat anything and was always throwing up! I am so glad I never had it that bad!

I'm so excited. In 4 weeks I'm going camping in Michigan w/ family. I will be SEVEN MONTHS pregnant on an airplane alone with my 3 and 2 year olds! I am bringing loli pops and books, it's ganna be crazy!!! Has anyone taken their toddlers on airplanes? How did they react. My three year old says she wants to 'get up there' every time we see a plane, but I could see them both freaking out during take off! I feel bad for everyone else!

Also. I'm 24 weeks now and hardley ever take my vitamins. Is this a big deal? I just forget. In the am I don't want to take it cause I always have milk + I know calcium knocks out Iron or something, And if I have yogurt(calcium) at lunch I say, okay, I'll wait till dinner, but by then it's just out of my mind. I can't take it on an empty stomache cause it aches! Would it be better to just take it with calcium rather than never?

I don't know, but I had one when I got pregnant w/ my first. And I left it untreated into the second month because I had no idea what it was and didn't gp to the docs till then. I was embarissed cause I thought it could be an STD. I was so releived to find out it was just that and even more releived when I treated it!!

Take the vitamin whether or not it is with the milk.  The way you are doing it now, none of the value of any of the nutrients gets to your baby, and at least (even if there is a calcium/iron interaction) the other way the baby will still get most of the vitamins! :)  I once said that calcium/iron thing to my nurse, who pooh poohed and said it wasn't that big a deal to worry about anyway.  The kids probably won't be frightened on the plane but they might be really, really keyed up with excitement!  Good luck!!!

I agree with AnnieBrooke, if the vitamins don't make you sick, take them! If you are worried about iron absorbtion (sp?), take vitamin C along with it ie. iron fortified cereal with orange juice. Vitamin C helps the iron absorb into your system more effectively. Sticky baby dust to you:)

Oh I almost forgot, I took my 2 year old on a plane and she loved it. After about 10 minutes in the air, she fell asleep! ust be the white noise or something. Just be sure to bring lots of things to do and give them a snack or drink on the ascent/descent so their little ears don't get plugged up and hurt. Hope this helps!

hi everyone!!

i keep reading and hearing that its good to start taking prenatals BEFORE you get pregnant, can you only get them through your doctor? or are there ones you can get OTC? thanks

I keep my vitamins on my nightstand right next to my bed along with a bottle of water. Taking my vitamin is the last thing I do before I go to bed at night. That way I dont get sick from it, or burp up the metalic earthy taste! YUK! It has become a routine sinse Ive been taking them sinse December. They always made me sick when I took them during the day, especially the am, but this way, I get my nutrients and none of the bad side effects :o)

Good idea/suggestion, but I know I can't leave a bottle of anything on my nightstand because I have a 3yr old... as does bluebird I think.

You can get prenatals over the counter and they are much cheaper and have the required amounts needed. It is good to take prenatals about 2 months before getting pregnant but you don't have to. I am currently taking the walmart brand they were $5 Spring Valley.

Hi guys I hope everyone is doing great!  Well I have posted on this site a few times but never in an open forum I hope this means its open to ask questions and I am not jumping in on anyone.  I was just curious if anyone knows of ANYTHING that helps with the weak bladder.  I find that at night its the worst, I get up probably 6 times a night if not more to pee and I have such bad chopped up sleeps that by morning I am exhausted I already had a weak bladder to begin with.  Also does it get better as the pregnancy progresses????  Please I hope so.  Well thanks for any input!!!

My doc said to pee a lot (when awake), like once an hour whether I felt like it or not, and that would help the bladder regain some tone.  I don't know how well this works during pregnancy but it can't hurt.  Of course, if you are already peeing once an hour, you'd have to make it more frequent :)  the idea is to have your bladder be empty most of the time, so it can come down in size and not be accustomed to being stretched by liquid.  Good luck!

How is everything going? I read about you BFT and I was very excited for you:) I had a m/c in May that I'm still going through and stories like yours always make me so happy! Best of luck:)

It's HIGHLY recommended that you begin taking prenatals- but mainly folic acid before conceiving. Here in Canada, we are advised to begin taking our folic acid three months prior to conception.

As for the vitamins on our nightstands, don't your vitamins have child-safety caps? I leave mine on my night table because my DD can't get into it and it's probably the only way that I'd remember to take it every night.

Everything is going pretty well so far. My appt isnt untill june 28th. I feel like it is taking forever! I will be 9w 5d. I had a little spotting last week, but only lasted a day. Doc said all was good. So, just counting down the days :o) This pg is already so different than the m/c. Hoping that is a good sign.

How are you doing? How have things been going for you?

6 weeks? That's great! You're at the end of the 2 mounth already. Wish you all the best!!! Baby dust to you:)
