ovulation question and ttc

by susanelizabeth, Nov 23, 2005 12:00AM
Hi, I have a 21 month old daughter.  I just came off the pill to ttc for no. 2, I'm at day 23 of my cycle.  I don't know if I even ovulated this month but I conceived my daughter the first month off the pill last time (I was very lucky and never had to try really).  I have mild PCOS.  At least I have been told that. Anyway, Last week I felt some crampy pangs on my side for a few hours (I thought maybe I ovulated then???) but no abnormal CM, is it essential that you see a lot of that egg white CM when you ovulate?  I don't remember from when I conceived my daughter what that was like.  Anyway, just looking for advice.  I figure if my period never comes and I'm NOT pg, I'll go see a dr. but I'm hoping I'm ovulating like I was when I conceived my daughter.  Thanks.  Also, does it sometimes take a couple months to ovulate again following a long time on the pill????

My sister was on the pill got off to ttc and it took her 6 mos just for her body to start to ovulate again.  And the ewcm you dont need a lot of it being what your body produces but depending on how much you have its also eariser for the sperm to get where its going.  Good luck!

ok, so not everyone gets a great deal of ewcm when they ovulate?  Or perhaps I just didn't ovulate cause of the pill....?

hi all,

being that this is a post about ovulation i thought i would pop a question in. i stopped breastfeeding 2 weeks and some days ago in order for my period to return (i gave birth 2 years and four months ago and i have yet for my period to return, i only get withdrawals bleeds with the pills, to which i am never consistantly on) my questions are these, how soon after breasfeeding does AF return, and u need to realease an egg first right? or is it AF then the egg? Any help would be great. Thank. D's mom XXXXXX

Don't be surprised if you don't get a period and you're not pregnant, I missed one my second cycle off the pill and then a few months later, it can take a few months for your body to regulate, even if it didn't the first time you got pregnant, it's always different. Not to say that will happen, but I just wanted to let you know my personal experience and don't worry too much about it if it DOES happen. As far as the EWCM not every woman gets a lot of it or any at all. Some women only get watery as their most fertile. I never really get any. You could try taking Robitussin around 'O' time to help or take Eveing Primrose Oil from AF to 'O', but for either of these you would have to know when you 'o'. Also try drinking a lot of water, if you don't already, it definately helps. If you don't get pregnant this cycle, I would suggest BBT and OPK's. Also bd every other day just for the heck of it and you'll have a good chance of catching the egg, even if you don't chart or do opk's. But just know, even if you do every other day it could take 3-6 months, sometimes up to a year(depending on you and hubby's age) to concieve, so don't get discouraged. =D God bless and baby dust!!!

I have been off the pill for 3 months now and still no baby.  Everyone is different. Every pregnancy is different.  Good luck ttc.  I know I need it.  I am expecting my period on the 29th so lets pray for teh best that I am prego!

Everyone is not the same with the amount of cm they produce and yes maybe you didnt ovulate.  You should do your temp or something to see when you do ovulate.

Thanks for your post.  So it's possible that I could skip a period and not be pg coming off the pill?  And I may not get a lot of ewcm and that doesn't mean anything?  ok, perhaps I should get a fertility monitor.  Thanks for everyone's advice and baby dust to all of us who need it!

I recently found out I was 9 weeks pregnant a week later I booked in for a scan and there was no heartbeat.  I lost my baby at ten weeks and it was hard.  I have bought a thing called "maybebaby" you put your morning saliva on it and look at it thru a light and if you see a fern like structure you are fertile.  It has worked for 3 people that I know straight away and I am now ready to try again.  You can also fall pregnant when you have your period, even thou it is messy it is worth a try.  Goodluck to yo all.
