pain meds in pregnancy

I have been taking hydrocodone for 2 years.  I got pregnant and had been continuing to take them.  I am now in my last 5 weeks of pregnancy and have been taking 7/750mg.  If I ween myself off of them in the next week will my baby be ok at time of delivery?  I don't want the baby to go through with drawals and I am very scared.  Has anyone gone through this before?  Everything is going fine with my pregnancy the baby is healthy.  Any advice would help me out......thanks!!!

Don't wean without your doctors approval and full knowledge.   Ask at your next appt. how/when to safely do this.

Thank you so much for responding, I needed this!  I am usually taking 4-6 as pain happens...never over 6.  I will definitely discuss it with my doctor but I am just so scared.  I have been very down on myself lately.

yeah i would discuss it with your doctor now when i was pregnant the first time i had surgery and they gave me tylenol 3 with codeine, aldo another time they gave me hydrocodone and throughout my pregnancy becaus eof the pain i took them, and my boy is so  very smart and healthy i get so many compliments now i think if someone excessively uses them while pregnant like more then prescribed thats prob not very good, but if your trying to stop taking them shes right you might want to talk to your doctor cause 2 years is a long time to just stop taking them and it could hurt  you as well as the baby.

Has your doctor known about the pain medication use during your pregnancy this entire time?

No, he hasn't known the whole time.  I told him probably a couple months ago that I had taken them. I also wasn't completely honest with him how long or how much.
My regular physician knows--he is the one who is prescribing them to me due to a car accident 2 years ago.  He knows I'm pregnant.
