painful beltline cramps while pregnant is this normal?

I have just recently wrote a forum about taking 6 pregnancy test, and all 6 came out positive. the wonderful people on this site did ensure me that a positive is a positive,

my next question to you guys is....

Is it normal to have sever cramps right around your beltline, (lower abdominal area)
Im assuming that i am 13 weeks pregnant?

You need to call your Dr now. It may be absolutly nothing, but its better to go in and get everything checked out.

I went to the Dr. about two weeks ago i metioned it to her and she told me it was normal that it was because of things growing. but the pain is just non stop.

It sounds like things are just stretching and growing and as long as you are not bleeding it sounds like you may be fine, however, it is your body and if you feel something is NOT right you call that dr back and DEMAND something be done and if they won't you need to find someone who will.  Good Luck to you.  I know every little pain is scary in pg especially if you have had a m/c trust me.  Take Care.

Yes it is very scary its pretty painful i would love to find out what is going on, i have only had one Dr. appt. and she sent me to do my blood work, so i havent heard a heart beat or nothing im just praying that things are going as they should.

i would switch dr. but i am in another country. im from Atlanta,Georgia and visiting here in Canada for a couple months so finding this dr. was hard must less switching.

Did you find these same pains in your pregnancy?

Yes, I agree with Blondie. It might feel good to just hear rhe heartbeat, y'know? It could very well be normal stuff, and it probably is, but if it were me I would get that appt. Dr's are trained to diffuse situations, which means they'll downplay almost everything. This is probably because in their experience the wait and see approach is always the first step. Just follow your heart. Sometimes with Dr's you have to step on their toes. I just learned that the hard way this year. Good luck!

Sorry I forgot to respond to the insurance aspect of your situation as I take for granted that we have healthcare completely covered by the government. If the costs are an issue, you can definitely have a lot of peace of mind by hearing the h/b with the fetal doppler (a lot less expensive than an u/s) now and then have the one u/s at approx 18 weeks. Good luck.

If I were you, if the doc you're seeing in canada is not that attentive, you should go to any ER and they will listen for a h/b and/or send you for an u/s. I replied to your previous post that in canada it is routine to have an u/s at 12 weeks to check for down's syndrome. You should have your u/s by now.

Well i wont even have my first pap test or physical until the 14th week. So to me based upon what your telling me shes not doing her job properly???

I mean what you are saying makes total sense because by the 16th week is when you can tell the gender correct so by the time i hear my babys first heart beat will be at the same time i find out the gender which is crazy!

Sorry. My PC wasn't working properly until now. Yes I'm from canada and the normal procedure is an u/s at 12 weeks followed by the really long and detailed u/s btwn 16 and 20 weeks.  Especially if you're experiencing that kind of pain, I would insist that the doc you're seeing send you for an u/s asap otherwise go to the ER. Also, I'm not sure what province you're in, but every province has a college of physicians and you can search ob/gyns online. Hope this helped and that you get the proper care that you deserve.

If your insurance doesn't cost you an arm and a leg to go to the ER, then I would take deareko's advice to go to the ER,  tell them you were bleeding even if you weren't.  I was out of town and started bleeding at 12 weeks and went to the local ER.  They wanted to do an U/S before a pelvic exam (they don't like doing pelvic exams if they know the baby is still alive).  The baby was fine, so they sent me home, but the bleeding got worse so I went back and they gave me another abdominal ultrasound and a vaginal ultrasound and found that the baby was OK as well as the source of the bleeding.  It is definitely worth checking into!

Have you tried to get incs some where?  Like medicade or pecap. I am not sure where you are but they are around NY state and will help you big time with incs.  Also I was told the cramps were just your things stretching.  If they get really painful where you cant walk or anything I would call the dr.

I had my first pap at 8 weeks. 12-14 weeks seems late to me. They wanted to do the intra-vag ultrasound to date the pregnancy by about 10-11 weeks. I don't know the procedure where you live, but do what you have to do. I feel someone needs to have a look at you soon. Good luck :)

I never have my first ob appt till about 12 weeks. I always rent a fetal doppler online ($22 a month)and can hear my babies heartbeat at home by 9-10 weeks. That is how I relieve my nerves in those early weeks while waiting for my 1st appt.
