physiological jundice

my sis in law has new born, baby has physiological jundice on 5th day Total Billirubin in 15 mg/dl. on the 9 the day it incress and boost up to 21 mg/dl. we are so much worried now baby has photo therapy for 24hr on the 6th day.
we hve start the sun therapy from yesterday. any one plz guide me more?

Keep with the sun therapy (keeping the baby's eyes covered), keep the baby hydrated, and follow the doctor's instructions.

thx for replying, but i hve still one proble with this child(baby boy), when he born he was 2.90kg now he is 10 days old ane he has lost 400gm. is it a problem?

pleas guide me.
PS: he is sleeping well and feeding by his mom is also normal.

Generally babies do lose a little weight in their first week or two after birth.  It sounds pretty normal, though it is always smart to check questions like this with the baby's doctor.

most babies lose some weight in the first week or two, but you may want to talk with yuor doctor about how much to be worried about. Does your doctor have the baby on the bili lights? my son had juandice and they wrapped blue ligth called bili-lights around him and we brought him and the lights home and did the treatments at home, because sunlight was not enough for him. also when the bilirubin level gets to 30 is when it can start causing brain damage, so you are still ok just keep working at it. I got juandice as a baby and my level got up to 35 I had to go intoa neonatal intensive car unit, but suffered no brain damage or other negitive effects later in life. good luck hope this helps.
