The DR told me it's safe to use proactiv, I know it costs alot but it really wks
(I've still been too chicken to use it but w/ my first son as soon as I had him weaned I started using it & w/in 3wks I had no more bumps) w/ this pg I haven't broke out hardly at all except for this past wk but I'm 34.5wks, I broke out really bad w/ my first right before I delivered him too. I tried all the other products during my 1st pg & nothing worked (I didn't know about proactive til I was nursing him in the middle of the night & seen the advi. for it. Now it's very popular. I think it costs about $70.00, but it really worked!! Good Luck but ask your DR (even though mine said it's fine, I'd still ask yours)

I'm having the same problem! I'm 8 weeks on Monday. Not really all over my body, but all over my face. I feel like I'm 15 again! I don't think there is anything we can do. I've limited the amount of make up I wear and trying to drink more water. I'll be interested to read other posts on the subject.

Can this happen after a miscarriage too?  I've had SO MANY breakouts after being pregnant and then miscarrying.  I've never had such a bad complexion as I do now.  It's kind of getting better....but...sheesh!

I'd say yes b/c of hormones going crazy!! Maybe u can get some proactive, (it's the stuff Jessica Simpson adv on tv) I forgot to add I think u have to be careful about getting out in the sun when u use it,  but hey it actually wks ;)

An alternative to Proactiv is a kit called "Acne Free" which can be purchased at Wal-Mart for around $20. It works well, and if I noticed I was becoming too dry, I only used it before going to bed (some people have very sensitive skin, so two times a day can dry out their skin).

Anyway, I used it to ensure I wouldn't break out before my wedding, and I've used it on occasion (when I thought I was starting to break out) since I've been pregnant. My sister has also used it, and it works for her as well.

Just a suggestion! I know how miserable it can be, on top of all the OTHER changes going on with your body! :-)
Good luck!

OH YES!  I have them all over too.  I look like a 16 year old pregnant girl insteat of 32. I used to have meds for pimples before I got pregnant (skin was not bad but Derm gave me it for when I did get them) But he stopped them when I got pregnant.  Now I just put rubbing alcohol on my skin after the shower to dry them up.

I do believe, but am not positive, that Acne Free's active ingreedient is salycilic acid which is NOT ok to use during pregnancy.

It is very safe to use proactive and it works great. You can get the start up kit for like 20 dollars plus shipping.. I have been using it this pregnancy and my face has been great. It was really getting bad that at the beginning and now it is soft and clear as a bell, and proactive hasn't yet driend out my skin!

Goodness, I sound like a commercial!

Thank u all so much..seems like proactive is good..but where do i get that?any where like walmart...I heard it has many lotions in the kit..which lotion do i need to use..?

I am 6 wks 4 d and i too and getting breakouts really bad!  You can order Pro Active on line for about $25.00.  I just ran out before i found out i was pregnant.  But it works miracles!  So i will be re-ordering it for sure!

There is a face wash, then a toner, then a lotion. There is also a masque that you can use like once a week or so if you want. I only use the products at night and then I use Ivory soap in the mornings. For regular lotion, to prevent drying, I use curel original formula under my make up in the morning. I use cheap make up, just cover girl, but I do not wear too much. Also keep your hair away from your face, especially if it is long, and make sure you aren't using too much conditioner. This will help especially for your shoulders and back.

I hope this helps.

Also try these #'s if don't get it on line
1-800-235-6050 or 1-800-237-1551

Acne Free is safe...it uses Benzoyl Peroxide, just as Proactiv does.

Go to AcneFree.com for more info

Nothing against Proactiv...But I'm a penny pincher, especially when I'm having put so much money toward clothes that fit! LOL
Anyway, just thought I'd save people a little money. Plus, you don't have to wait for it to come in the mail.
Also, it sometimes comes with some sort of "freebie" attached to the box...

by CODNER5, Nov 10, 2006 12:00AM
HI, I actually have acne when I am not pregnant and then when I become pregnant my face is wonderful and not acne at all.Strange I know.

But, I used the procative and acne free(19.99 kit at walmart) and both work just as good. And way cheaper and acne free is easier to get.Dr said both are fine If I needed to use.

I know what you mean... my skin is also not happy right now!

I think that Clinique has a really good product called "acne solutions" and I have always found that it makes them dissappear within a day! :))

I am 7 weeks yesterday. My face is starting to look like it did when I was 16. I am 33 and this is my fourth pregnancy. Every single time I broke out for awhile. I think most women get over it after the first trimester, I always have. Acne isn't caused by what we eat so much, but by stress and hormones. Stress causes hormones to go crazy. So it really just comes down to hormones. Right now, if your pregnant they are goin' crazy.

I think I too was around 7- 9wks and I looked like I was 15 again!! But it didn't last that long. Now I'm 17wks and if I do say so myself..my skin is looking mighty fine!

I am using bodyshop Tree Tea Oil - Tree Tee night lotion and Tree Tea facial wash it seems to be working.  My acne seems to be right in the middle of my forehead a few pimples on arm (strange) and between my breast. I have used for a week now most has cleared but I can still see slight reddning in forehead area. Let me know if your product is same or better.
