poll on what brand of hpt is the best

poll on what brand of hpt is the best

ok - so yesterday I got the FAINT positive w/the Clearblue easy +/- test and today it looks the same - very faint but there. And many of you cautioned me of that brand having an online rep for false positives. SO...today I am going to spend MORE money and buy a different test. Before I do - wanted you all to weigh in on what you feel is a) the easiest to read b) the best VALUE and c) the most ACCURATE!!!  (AF due Friday...and yes, I know I should wait - but that is highly unlikely - ha!)

I used EPT +/-. It was always 100% accurate! I followed up with the Clearblue Easy digital. It is so nice to see that "PREGNANT" show up on the screen!

The whole point was that if you would simply wait 2 or 3 more days, it should show up bright and clear no matter what kind.  Even use a digital.  You are simply testing too early for some of the less sensitive brands to pick up.

peeonastick.com lists some sensitivities.  Think of it this way. Perhaps you had very small amounts of the pregnancy hormone HCG present, and you got a very faint positive.  In 48-72 hours, that small amount should double or more.  So that your result should be very clear by then if you are using a test with even average sensitivity of 50.

So just wait a couple more days, and you should know for sure.

Hey you! Still a faint + is still a good sign!  I prefer FRED.  A little expensive but it's the only one I'll use.  I used Answer and EPT but that blue line always looks phantom to me.  Good luck on your quest for the perfect HPT!

With my 1st pregnancy I used First Response and got a STRONG + 1 day after I missed AF.  With this one I used EPT +/- and got a STRONG + 1 day after AF was due.  So I like either one of these.  Alot of women like the new digital ones.  I never tried them and got a +, only because I wasnt actually preggo at the time.  I wanted to buy one this time but just didnt, this way I could put it in the baby's book but I dont think it stays on there.  Anyway that is my thoughts.  Not sure how these work when AF is not missed yet.

Cheap Dollar Store showed + fast, even used the more$$$ that are suppost to show up several days before you even miss your period & they took 4ever to show a + even though I took one 2 days after I had missed my period. The $store ones are $1.00. Not bad at all since we always take several :) LOL A clinic even said I wasn't pg but the $ store were right!

I used a dollar store test 5 days before AF and it turned out Positive...fainter the first day...then darker the second day when I retested.

lol...first response early detection.  Gotta love it!  Too many abbreviations/acronyms.

lol!

Test away.  Actually, this could be a science project.  Buy one of each of every brand and give all the results!

My favorite, hands-down, is Answer brand.  It's only about $8 for two tests, and they have always been accurate for me (both pg and not pg).

at leat I noticed yesterday it is a flex-spending item....so we can submit the receipts for reimbursement.  shwew!  I'll probably reach the flex-spending limit on tests alone!

I got a faint BFP with $ Store brand in the morning, went and bought a first response early pregnancy test and did it in the afternoon and got a bright BFP and I tried the $ store brand again after 2 days and got a bright BFP with that. My last pregnancy I used fact plus and got a + and went to the dr. the next day and got a - then did blood test and I was pregnant.

Definitely the digital pregnant or not pregnant...there's no mistaking the results. :)  Best wishes...here's hoping this is your month! :)

I posted a question down below, didn't get to many posts but has to do with hpt tests.  I am 3d late, and have used the walmart equate brand, how sentive is this brand?  Also, have any of you girls got BFP days after af was due and got a pervious negive day of miss af or after?

I feel a little silly for asking but what is a FRED?

According to peeonastick.com, the Equate test will pick up levels as low as 25mIU. That's pretty low.

As far as the best test goes, I agree with JJety that Answer Brand is good if you want an early detection test. If you can wait until after AF is due, then I like the digitals.

I like the Clearblue Digital it simply states "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant" Theres no lines to read just the words!  It worked for me. I got a 3 pack at Walmart for like $9.

Clearblue's online rep of false positives is due to the fact they recalled a specific lot # for exactly that problem and that was a few months ago.  I'm not sure the problem still exists but use another brand if it makes you more comfortable.  Anyway, the next step after a home preg test is see your doc and have it confirmed with a blood test.  Good Luck and Congrats !
