positive HPT, negative BT, high prolactin?

by lkjbhughes, Mar 18, 2005 12:00AM
Last period started March 6th but was abnormal - little heavy for 3 days, then nothing. Was on Pill until March 5th when I stopped taking it because I felt pregnant and had positive HPT -could explain unusual period on March 6th.  Last "normal" period started Feb. 8th.  Took HPT on March 3rd - faint postive.  Doctor did Quan. Blood test on March 11th - negative.  She said to wait a week and do HPT again. Did 2 HPTs (even showed my mother the positive) on March 17th - both positive (using First Response Test).  Had blood drawn again yesterday and waiting for results.  My sister has had high prolactin levels diagnosed and she suggested maybe I just have that as well.  I have one child (2 years old) and feel very pregnant - bloating and large breasts.    Help, am I pregnant or just have high prolactin levels and all "messed up" like my sister suggested? I'm feeling crazy now - like maybe this is all in my head.

Sounds crazy!
Wait for the next set of blood tests they are usually accurate,
Hpt can be wrong, maybe your hormones are out of whack. Not on any medication or anything for hormones that would make them funny?

If you had a period on the 6th, implantation bleeding is very light and lasts maybe a day, why do you think you are pregnant?

the only other thing i know about that can cause a positive hpt is a germ cell tumor. not a good thing. hopefully you're pregnant.
