possable m/c question on levels

possable m/c question on levels

My friend just found out she is pregnant which was a total suprise due to the fact that she was on b/c at the time of conseption. She was due for her AF on Oct 31 and never got it and got the BFP. Last Friday she started bleeding, a little clotting, no major clotting, and no cramping at all. She had her levels done on Monday and they were 63. On Wednesday she stoped bleeding and got level done again and they were 57. She has had no bleeding since. Is this normal, how fast does the levels drop? Could they have dropped due to the bleeding or anything else? The reason for the confusion is the doctor wasn't complete sure what is going on wants her to come back on Monday again and she is going crazy!! FYI she does have cysts on her ovaries and a lot of scar tissue. Any imput would be great thank you all and have a great day.

I am very sorry for your friend, but those low numbers and that they are not rising is not a very good sign.

That doesn't sound good. The numbers are very low and should not ever go down. I am sorry. It can take awhile for the number to go back down to 0. She may have to bleed some more first. The best thing you can do is be honest with her and be there for her and listen to her when she needs to talk.

I too am sorry. I think her numbers are rally low but a lot worse it that they're declining. I think that anytime hcg drops, it us a sign that m/c is imminent.

Hi, I agree with all the above comments. Not to add stress to the situation, but I also had low HCG levels and a history of ovarian cysts(not that this caused it) and my pregnancy ended up being ectopic in my right tube.  I know first instinct by most, doctors, is to mention the idea of a miscarriage but a very real and dangerous other problem could be present.  I know when this happened to me, ectopic pregnancy was not the first thing they brought up but definitely ended up sending me into emergency surgery.  I say this just as a warning so that she is an advocate for herself and does not take the doctors first impresssion as the only possibility. Low and abnormal HCG levels could be other things,,,If i could prevent even one person from simply waiting it out because the doctor advised it,,,,,i will be so pleased.  I will keep her in my prayers.
