I have a friend who by her LMP is 8 weeks pregnant today. She used clomid that cycle. She went to the doc on day 21 of her cycle and got her progesterone tested. They told her she didn't ovulate because her progesterone was only 3.9. a week 1/2 later she got a very faint positive HPT and the next day she got a definite dark positive on the HPT. She went to the doctor when she was 5 1/2 weeks and they drew blood. Her HCG was over 1300 and her progesterone was 37.8... she really has no idea when she ovulated but knows for sure it was after day 21 of her cycle... she also has a tilted uterus.
Unfortunately life is unfair!
Is this her firstFirst progesterone mc10 First progesterone mc5 First-progesterone vgs 100 First-progesterone vgs 200 First-progesterone vgs 25 First-progesterone vgs 400 First-progesterone vgs 50 First-testosterone First-testosterone mc pregnancy?
All she can do is wait and see what happens and all you can do is be a good friend. Im sure she will be hurt if she loses this baby, and only time can help I lost my first and that was in 1992 and I still think of who or what he/she may have been
you cant help but feel overjoyed with your pregnancy but just dont flaunt it if she does lose her baby.
I dont know much about the levels, I never paid attention to them in my pregnancy. Just waited for u/s results I think we can drive ourselves crazy with all the numbers and books of what should be.
Hoping all will be ok!! God Bless

If she was 8 weeks according to LMP but may have have ovulated late, everything could be fine. I know at my 6 week ultrasound we only saw a sac (no pole or HB) and my Hcg was much lower than hers. I'm not sure about the progesterone. The fact that her uterus is tilted can make everything harder to see too.
First, let me say that you scared the heck out of me with your posting!!! Thank god it isn't you! My sister had two blighted ovums. And I believe her numbers were looking good and it was the u/s that told them there was a problem. But with both of those, she was bleeding. Is your friend bleeding at all? I am so very sorry she is going through this. It's such an awful thing. But hopefully it will work out. Lovinmom would tell her to go to that earthlink site. I can't remember the address. Bummer.

nope. she's not bleeding at all and still has sore breasts and a little nausea. also found out she has fibroids too (i just talked to her and shes a little more coherent this morning) so that could have distorted the image. Her doc said that the sac measures 6 weeks 5 days and by exam he thought she was bigger than that... I'm not a super religious person but everyone please pray for her. she has tried for 18 months for this baby and I'd hate to see her lose it. the good thing is they took blood yesterday and said they'd have the progesterone and hcg levels back this afternoon so hopefully she'll know something before 9 days.
thanks for worrying about me. :o) I'm totally fine. Have major heartburn, but other than that I'm totally fine. (even starting to show already)
As for your friend..I'm sorry she has to wait to find out any answers. It's good to know your such a good friend of hers and she has you to lean on. I had a blighted ovum with my 2 pregnancy loss. I only remember my #'s all looked fine and then at 6-6.5wks I started bleeding. I can't rememebr anything else b/c that was my 2nd m/c I just wanted to forget about it and move on. What I'm saying is I did not ask alot of questions like I would do other wise. However as we know it could be slow to develop and needs more time and that is why she needs to wait the next days for the u/s. That sucks. I hope she ends up with some good news. Keep us posted.
A tilted uterus will skew ultrasound results. It sounds like your friend ovulated late according to when she got a positive pregnancy test. Your friend may want to visit this site. It has some encouraging stories and research info. Maybe there is something there that will help. You and your friend take care.
i was diagnosed of a possible blighted ovum by my dr,last monday, but when i read misdiagnosed miscarriages, it gave me hope that i may still be carrying a healthy baby,i also have a retroverted uterus. i think having a small ray of light is better than staying in the dark...if what i am carrying is blighted then let it be, but i am going to give it a chance in life by waiting a few more days/weeks and staying sane, taking care of myself instead of going crazy thinking of how life is unfair....
Is this her first pregnancy?
