I was on EffexorEffexor Effexor xr when I was in college (about 6 years ago) I thought it was very powerful medicine and I think I was on 75 mg too. I think it really did help a lot; However, I noticed that if I forgot it my body quickly went into withdrawal and I didn't feel good at all (physically). I think it is a good medicine though and it helped me. It always takes about 2 to 3 weeks or so to really see effects. So, I would keep taking it.
I also had postpartum depression and my doc put me on effexor xr 37.5 first week and then up to 75. I noticed that it helped me, but now I have extreme fatigue. I have never felt this tired before, but I am not sure if it is from the effexor or bc. I have been taking it for almost 2 months now. The only side effect I notice besides the tiredness, is that I SWEAT so darn bad. It isnt that big of a problem because it is winter, but sometimes it does get annoying. Have you noticed that you are really fatgiue more than usual? I want to quit taking it because I am 20 and I dont want to be dependent upon drugs, but I have heard horror stories basically of people who tried quiting it. Good luck, and I hope you get better.
I was tired prior to taking this and that is still the case, she said I would have more energy soon. I find that I sleep about 20% better now, before I would just lay in bed tossing and turning. I'm always cold right to my bones but now I find that I do have some moments where I'm baking. But that doesn't bother me. I would just like energy. She didn't want to increase my dosage until after the holidays because the office would be closed if something went wrong.
Are you still taking Effexor? How long did they tell you you would be on it? My doctor said 6 months. I have noticed I'm not nearly as angry as before, in the past just looking at me the wrong way set me off. But I found that was only when I was home, out in public I was normal. It is like these four walls make me crazy, and outside I don't want my family to know I'm going crazy.
Hope your life gets back to normal soon, I know I would appreciate my body and mind back. (smile)
I am still on effexor. she never gave me a date or anything of when to quit taking it. she just asked if I wanted to continue, and at the time I did. I know what you are saying about your mind and body. that would be so nice to have that back. I guess it takes time and patience though, and that is what the medicine if for. :)
