precipitous labor??

precipitous labor??

I had a precipitous delivery with my son (less than two hours of hard labor to crowning). Now he is 4 years old and has speech and motor delays without a diagnosis as to the cause as of yet. He does not fit the profile for autism. A pediatrician friend intimated that the fast labor could be a contributing factor. I had an otherwise normal pregnancy and he has been a pretty healthy kid otherwise. The speech delay is in his expressive language and is pretty severe though his receptive language is fine. The motor delays are mild though both fine and gross motor skills. Any thoughts?

C-sections happen very fast, yet I've never read that anyone thinks they are associated with delays.  Did your doctor friend imply it was due to the delivery somehow being rough on the baby, or simply the fact of it happening quickly?
