pregnancy after miscarriage

by Jennie B, May 28, 2007 12:00AM
Hi ladies, I have a question. Cutting to the chase, I had had an ultrasound on April 11 and it showed that I most likely lost the pregnancy two weeks before. So I guess I had a miscarriage around April 10. I waited for my next period to start trying again. It was kind of a weird period, though. I think it started around May 8. Anyway, I had a blood HCG test a few weeks ago and it was five. Long story short, here we are seven weeks post miscarriage and I have a faint line showing I am pregnant!! If I still had a HCG of 5 would it have been enough hormone to have a positive home pregnancy test:( OR.. Could there be a bun in the oven??????

Hi-an HCG of five a few weeks ago should have returned to 0 I would think.  If you think you had a period (even though it wasn't the same as always), chances are good that test is showing a new pregnancy.  Call your doctor and arrange a visit!  Good luck to you!  I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :)

If you had a miscarriage seven weeks ago and your still showing positive on a pregnancy test you are most likely pregnant again! Congradulations! But what you also might want to keep in mind is that sometime tissue is left up there. Even the smallest amount could make you appear pregnant. My suggestion is go to your doctor and see what they think... but my assumption would be new pregnancy! :D

To: Post Miscarriage Ovulation?
Hello everyone,
My name is Nikki and i have been viewing your messages on here for a while now and have found your stories very inspiring and helpful. I had a miscarriage on May 7, 2007 at 5 1/2 weeks. I had a complete miscarriage no D&C. I had ovulation symptoms such as cramping and egg white stretchy CM on May 25, 2007. Is It possible that I really ovulated before getting my period? If so is there a possibility that I could be pregnant again since my hubby and I had such a wonderful time reconnecting last weekend (wink wink)?

Much Love,
Nikki

To: not sure...
I think it's obvious that you ovulate before your next period, but as excited as you are about getting pregnant after your loss (like me, too) I know for a medical fact (i have a cousin who is an OBGYN) and the reason they tell you to wait two weeks after a miscarriage is complete OR wait until your next period is because the risk of infection. When you have a miscarriage your cervix opens like in childbirth. While many women get pregnant and don't have problems right after miscarriage IF you do get an infection that could potentially lead to serious infertility. Be patient it WILL happen when the time is right...

Yes, it is possible to get pregnant before you have a period after a miscarriage.  I recently miscarried and that is what I was told by my OB/GYN.

I miscarried this week. I am so sad. When should I try again?

by Crritter, Jan 26, 2008 06:33PM
I'm sorry for your loss.  I was told I could try again after the bleeding from the m/c stopped.  I was told to wait till I was ready, but I was sure that it was best for me to get right back to it, and my Dr. told me since I didn't know when I would ovulate, it was best to just start again, but easier if you waited one cycle just so you could date the pregnancy better.  I decided to wait a few months, had sex once and got pregnant right after my first period.  He will 10 months end of next week.  Good luck and start when you feel ready.

I found out I was pregnant after 3 years of trying.  I got pregnant on my first round of Clomid.  I have PCOS so it is hard for me to concieve.  Well I had a miscarriage  on jan. 17th 2 days after I found out but I was wondering If I could fall pregnant again after a natural miscarriage without clomid and with in the first month?  My husband and I are pushing time because he is due to deploy and we would love to be excpecting a lil one again.  Anything would help.  Thanks!!

I have heard that after you give birth, or have a miscarriage you can try right away. I am going to try again after my next cycle.. But if I were in your shoes I would go ahead and try when you feel ready.

Thanks I feel ready the thought of trying again is scary but for some crazy reason it makes me feel better.

I understand. If I were you I would call and talk to your doctor, and see what he/she says about it.

I miscarried on Sep.4 and got my period exactly 4 weeks after.

Now we are trying conceive again for 3 months already, and so far nothing.

I started IVF on March 3rd for the first time, I never thought I could've done it, I'm terrified of needles! On April 1st the first pt come sout positive but the hcg levels were low, so I went back after 2 days and the levels dropped down to 3, meaning I wasn't pregnant... I feel empty and really sad... How do I cope with this?!
