pregnancy and street drugs

I am 37 years old  and 4 months pregnant. I was using cocaine before I found out that I was pregnant, but not habitually. Now I am concerned that I have harmed the fetus. Can you please inform me of the possible effects this has on the baby and the chances of having an abnormal child.

my question to you is, how far along were you when u found out?
i would say as long as u have stopped the drug use u have good chances of having a normal child but the chances are just as good that the baby could be abnormal. i wish i could help more.
it will depend on how many times u used the drug while u were pregnant, even though u were unaware of the pregnancy. i hope all goes well and try not to worry just don't use drugs anymore especially now

Honestly I really do not know for sure though I believe I heard that Cocain only stays in your system (drug screen wise) for something like 72 hours at max, like I said I am not sure though. But like Pmom said though it really depends on how long you where on it and how much you took. Hopefully it would be like with alcohol and even though paople get drunk a few times before they knew they were pg the baby is fine. To be sure talk to your doctor about it to make sure. Hope everything goes well.

I have heard that the biggest risk is that the baby will also be addicted to cocaine. But since you quit, Or only used a few times (i'm guessing) you have a good chance of things being okay. Most cases I have heard about the mother used all through pregnancy. I hope you scraped by with this one. Good luck.

Well, the most critical time in a pregnancy is the FIRST 3 MONTHS! Good thing you quit but of course you are going to be at risk for some things! My ex's cousin was addicted to crack and did it her first 3 months she thought she had miscarried and when she realized she was like 5 months pregnant she quit, and the baby is fine. But that dosen't mean everyone will be fine! Get on your knees and pray, that's the best thing a mommy can do for her child! Glad to hear you quit and hope you never go back to that stuff, it's no good for you! Best of luck to you!
