hello all,

wow, barbara....WOW!!!!!!.......not sure what else to say....that is truly amazing, but WOWWWWW...
i would have been happy if i had at least 2. but three? i guess i would have been freaking out like your and your hubby.
hope all goes well with the pregnancy though. you really have to relax from this point on. knew a girl that was pregnant with triplets and she was put on bedrest very early in the pregnancy.
again, wow!!! most of all, congratulations! remember, they are all still little miracles..

angelique, nice to hear from you.

lucky for me, no maternity clothes as yet..only a maternity jeans as all of the others seem to cut under my ever bloated pouch!
no nausea really, unless i go in the kitchen and i can smell the garbage under the sink..other than that, i am fine.
yesterday was my hungry day, i was hungry for forever yesterday!

linda, hope you are doing well. let's see how this doctor is on the 17th...

shannon, i feel really bad for you throwing up all the time. my mother told me that when she was pregnant with me she vomited every day of the pregnancy! up until the morning she delivered!!! that must have been awful....maybe that is why i am such a sweet daughter now! :)

has anyone heard from danielle recently?

I almost feel a little funny wearing maternity clothes , because I am not that big, but it is there. I am 12wks 3days now. My Doctors office called today and said that I need to start taking 1 gram of Calicum a day. I guess my levels came back low or something. So now I am headed to the store to purchase them. I hate milk, so I figured this would be an issue at some point. My nausea is a little bit better, long as I take my prescp everyday. Also starting to get some energy back too. It feels nice, to be able to get some stuff done.  I am so excited that you are having a boy and a girl. I too would love that, but will be happy that they are just both healthy.  I wish there was a way to do a sonogram at home and see them everyday, just for the reassurance that all is okay. Shannon

Just have a question and seeing if someone can help me out.  I had a failed IVF on June 2.  I went in to see another doctor on June 9th.  He did some test and said I had an infection in my uterus and maybe that is why the IVF was not successful. I took antibiotics and it is all clear.  Anyway I was told to come back when I start my cycle.  Well today I went in to see the doctor cause I am 12 days late and they did my blood.  I just recieved a call and they said that my progesterone levels are low meaning I never ovulated.  They have given me a precription for PROVERA.  Has anyone ever taken this and what is the outcome?

by mysty2001, Jul 09, 2008 05:53PM
barbara _ know someone whose wife had triplets - and she carried to 37 weeks with no bedrest - they are doing fine!!!  they already had one too!

shannon - I am 18 weeks plus with twins - and haven't "officially"  been in maternity clothes but wearing loose things  - I am so jealous of your heartbeats - mine are so low I am worried

I too am having a boy and a girl - BUT last week the girl was five days behind in growth - and I didn;t see my doc after the u/s SOOOO I have to wait anothe five days of freaking out to see if I should be worried about the discrpency - US tech said brain and kidneys and spinal chord all looked good.  Girl is named Mary Elizabeth - boy is not named yet

Try not to worry to much if possible. Although I understand being concerned. I could probably get away with wearing loose clothes, but since someone gave me alot of maternity clothes, I am wearing them.  Why would the Doc not come in and tell you that everything is okay, so as not to stress for another week.  My twin B is like 1 day behind and I hope it does not get any more behind. I can not wait to find out their sex so I can stop referring to them as it!  Please keep me informed when you find out something. I will say extra prayers for you and your babies. Oh that name is Beautiful.  I am so sorry you are going through this.  Take Care of yourself,  Shannon

Shannon
thanks
my appointment was just for an ultrasound - the doc wasn't there that day - so I knew going in he wouldn't be there - BUT I had never had an issue so I wasn't concerned - I schedule them like that alot
Now I realize why that can be a problem - oh an agonizing wait
On the positive note - she switched the machine to 4d at the end so I have GREAT pictures - and I was able to see their little faces
I was referring to mine as fred and ethyl before I even knew their genders (and of course my picture here is of one pink and one blue glove!)

That is so cute, I am so exctired to find out the sex of mine. My High risk office called today with my results from my blood work.  It was to check the chances of Down Syndrome and some other test. Well it came back great. They said normal is 1/758 and mine came back at 1/10,000 on both twins, so that is fantastic news for us. I go to my obgyn on the 17th but from what I understand they will not do an ultrasound, I will have to wait till the 30th to go back to ROC. That is okay, I am just happy things are going good so far, aside from the nausea of course and now having to start taking an extra 1gm of calcium a day. My doc said that getting good 4D pic's with twins can be difficult. But yours turned out good? I hope they will still do mine just to see.

Hi Everyone!
Went for another ultrasound yesterday, still three strong heart beats =)
Everything seems to be developing well, the doctor was a little concerned because he couldn't see an amniotic membrane seperating the twins, but it may just be too early to see it so it could be okay. if thier isn't one, it still could be okay. sometimes, without one, the twins grow into each other and have trouble developing properly (someone's leg doesn't grow right because it's tangled in someone's arm, etc...) But it could be fine too, so I'm just waiting. Everyting else looks great, he is not concerned that i may lose one at this point, and next week I start seeing the multiples specialist...

Shannon, i love your comment about mat clothes because I went shopping this weekend and got some, and i am wearing them already at 8 weeks tomorrow!

Bimkin, I am jealous of your no nausea! I am on dicletin and still feel like I'm going to vomit half the time! lol

Thanks Mysty, I am not too worried, I have a good feeling everything is going to be fine. I also have a feeling i am going to be broke! hee hee hee

by mysty2001, Jul 15, 2008 03:31PM
barabra
kids are worth being broke for!
glad all is well

shannon - why won;t regular OB do u/s?  mine does one at least 1X per month
I think I will get one more 4d at least - they don't do a lot of those
then at 32 weeks on they do u/s every week to check for disparity in growth

still unsure of boys names
I keep saying "harry and mary"  but I know he will not be harry

Hey Barbara, that is so awesome that all three are doing good. How exciting.  The maternity clothes are so much more comfortable too. Next week when you see the specialist I am sure they will be able to tell you more.

Mysty,My friend that used my same doctor said he does not do the u/s. Well guess what they did one yesterday and everything was fine. He however could not tell us the sex of them.  But I am sure when I go to my specialist on the 30th. The hearbeats were 156 and 161.  I have not started calling mine any names yet.  But I had gained 4 pounds in one month. He said that is fine. I have gained a total of about 10 pounds I think..

Barbara, I'm so glad that you are doing better.  Please keep us updated after your next visit.

I went to my OB for the second time yesterday, and the visit went much better than the first time we went.  I think that something had happened the last time, and he was having an off day.  Anyway, I'm 12 weeks now, and the baby is doing very well.  The doctor said that he'd bet all of his money in Vegas that it's a boy!  He also said that it more than likely has my husband's Italian nose since he was testing for Downs and saw that the nose was "long!"  We were delighted about everything, and I'll go back in 3 weeks.  Oh, another awesome thing........I GOT TO STOP TAKING ALL OF MY MEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I won't know what to do today I tell ya.  Patches, pills, suppositories.....ahhhh, so great.

Angelique, so cool that you are having one of each.  And Mysty, you too!  Shannon, hopefully you'll know soon.  I'm not running out and buying all blue by any means, but it was fun to hear that.  When I told my 3-yr. old daughter that the doctor said Mommy might have a boy in her tummy, she screamed out, "no, it's NOT a boy in there it's a girl!"

Take care all, and have a great day,
Linda

Hello all,

It's been a few days since I dropped in. Glad to see all doing well.

Linda, I am especially happy that your OBGYN has become a civilized person. That was just not pleasant to hear about your last visit. Why does the doc think it is a boy??
I can feel your joy about not having to take any more of the meds. I have another 5 days or so on the suppositories and I cannot wait to get away from that mess...literally...

I was 11 weeks yesterday and I am feeling fantastic. No nausea still, Barbara! As I said the garbage thing gets me in the morning if it is too full other than that I feel normal, almost not pregnant really. Have not had heartburn since last Thursday.(knock on wood!)

Barbara, I am so glad that all three of your little ones are doing well. Hang in there, very soon you will blossom into a feeling of gratification knowing that you don't have to do this again! I on the other hand will need to spend thousands again for another bundle of joy.

Good news!!! My boobs have not increased in size!! At least not yet...reading stuff on the net, there are people that have an increase in bra size in the first trimester and sometimes 2. These triple D puppies don't even think that is cool or funny!!

Not wearing maternity clothes, just as much loose clothing as possible. Sometimes I have to squeeze into my jeans, I also leave the tops open especially when I am sitting down.

Anyway, trying to finish up some work on a sunny Friday afternoon.

Take care all and have a great weekend.

You are so funny!  I smiled the whole way through your post.  That smell thing is really getting me lately.  Just about 5 minutes ago I thought I was going to vomit over the smell of popcorn!  I also can't take the smell of my kids' wipes.  It's bizarre.  Suddenly everything makes me gag.  In fact I just sucked on a candy for nauseousness.  I also have really been losing my appetite.  Like NOTHING sounds remotely appetizing.  I'm not sure why this is starting up as I hit the 12 week milestone.  Go figure.

Anyway, when the ultrasound began I immediately saw what looked like testicles between the baby's legs.  I was completely not going to say anything, and I made a comment like, "he's not moving around much."  I just said 'he' not meaning HE.  The doctor then said what I wrote before.  I said that I thought that you couldn't tell the sex this early, blah, blah, blah, and he continued to say that he was pretty doggone sure that it was a boy but don't splurge on a bunch of boy things.  I'm not going to be surprised if suddenly it's not a boy, but it started me on the search for a boy name!  I have big time troubles coming up with those that I like.  It's easier with girl names for me.

I sure hope that my boobs don't get any larger!  My husband came in as I dressed today and said, "do those things hurt?"  Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still wearing loose tops and shorts.  Fortunately I don't work a full-time job that I have to wear something nice.

I almost felt worse today which is strange......I thought that I'd feel tremendously having stopped the drugs.  Maybe they are getting out of my system causing me to feel a bit crappy.

I can't think of a worse thing for me to try doing than attempting to squeeze into a pair of jeans.  It's also over 90 degrees here, so that's not an option.

It has been awhile since I have posted, but I was laughing at your comment about almost vomiting over popcorn.  I can relate.  I can't stand the smell of my own deoderent.  I think it is gross.  My husband keeps telling me that it doesn't smell like anything and to stop sniffing my armpits.  I told him I don't have to sniff my armpits I can just smell it all the time.  See what hormones do to us.

I to in next week for the diagnostic ultrasound.  I will be 18 weeks along then.  I am with you and the others that are having a difficult time with Boy names.  Girl names I have it narrowed down to three that my husband and I both agree.  The boy name is going to be much more difficult.

Take care, and my husband asked me the same thing about my breasts, do they hurt.  Men have no idea.  I felt so bad durning the first trimester I wanted to kill him for no good reason, because he wasn't sufferring enough.  My breasts are swollen and sore.  My nipples hurt so bad sometimes I almost cry.  The pains we endure for children, and we are not even to child birth yet.

Hey ladies!    I checked out the posts about a week ago and "thought" I had posted a reply and now see it's not there.   I swear...I think being pregnant is turning me into a big ditz!  It seems like those kinds of things are happening to me more and more lately :)

It sounds like everyone is doing great!!

Mysty & Angelique - How exciting that you're having one of each!   That is so great!

Linda - You and I are right there on the same timeline.   I was taken off all of my meds last week too and what a relief!   I was so done with those suppositories!    It's crazy to me that you may already know the sex of your baby and I was totally laughing at your daughter's response to a baby brother!  Until I became pregnant and started educating myself, I had no idea you could tell the sex this early.  Of course, now I'm obsessed and just want to know!!   I have a feeling mine's a boy.

Shannon - Hope you're nausea is starting to subside finally.  I know you've had such a hard time.   I saw last week when I checked out the posts that you were in maternity clothes now.  I just broke down myself and bought some this weekend but my husband told me they looked too big.   I have to dress up for work and my regular clothes are just not feeling very comfortable so we'll see what happens.   I may try to get through another week or so in my regular clothes and just not button all the way or something.

Kim - Good to hear that your boobs are not getting bigger!.   I was outside last night and one of my neighbors - who I don't even know that well - stopped by.   The first thing she said was Oh my gosh - you're boobs are huge!  Nice!!   I didn't have a lot to start with so it's not necessarily a bad thing but just a little strange to finally have boobs at 35 years old :)

When I attempted to post the other night, I wanted you ladies'  opinions on switching OBs.  In the meantime, I've made up my mind to change dr's and have my first appointment with my new dr on Tuesday.  I'm really hoping to have an ultrasound.  I haven't had one since 9 weeks when I was released from my specialist.   I've heard the heartbeat but those early ultrasounds definitely spoil you.   My nauseau is starting to get a little better too.   I still get the "gags" at least once a day but I'm not feeling sick for hours on end so that's a definite improvement.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well!   Everyone have a great week!

I just went through IVF, and my blood pregnancy test is Wed 7/23. it's a long 2 weeks. We had Embryo transfer 7/9.
I took a home test on Saturday 7/19 and today 7/21, and both were positive. I read that HCG from the medication will be out of my body within 2 weeks.
do you think it's a false positive?

Hello.  I had IVF done back in April.  I had the retrieval on 4/1/08 and the transfer on 4/6/08.  I had a faintly positive test 3 days later on 4/9/08, faintly positive again the next day, and then solid line by that Friday.  I think your positive is the real thing.  On Wednesday you have your blood test, this will give you your actual beta level.  Most doctors are looking for a number above 100.  You have my blessing, but I believe you can relax knowing you are pregnant.

Take care good luck to you.

Sounds like you are definitely pregnant!  How exciting!  That two week wait is just the worst, isn't it?  We've all been there.  Some more than once.  Thankfully you only have today to get through, but unlike those of us who got a negative HPT and/or didn't test at all, you at least have relief in knowing that you've gotten two positive HPT's.

Let us know what your beta is tomorrow.

I'm hoping... for the last 3 years, we did 4 rounds of injectables iui, and 4 rounds of just iui. This is the first time IVF... I think there is something wrong with my uterus lining, so I knew that with IVF I would take the Prog shots. The doctor kept telling me that he has already corrected the problem.
for this IVF, 16 retrieved, 13 fertilized, he put 2 in day 3. 3 are now frozen.
I'll let you know what happens tomorrow afternoon. I'm excited, but cautious.... and nervous.
I had many friends go through IVF, some got pregnant the first time, some the 2nd or 3rd.
Thanks soo much for the kind words. I know some ladies wait a much longer time...I can't imagine. I'm 31, and I'm still young. :) or so says the Dr.

Congradulations Mel! I am so excited for you!
Went to see the specialist for multiples on tuesday. All heartbeats are strong now. Baby b's heartbeat went up from 125 to 147 so that's great. But the best news is they were able to see an amniotic membrane seperating the twins! it gives them such a better chance as they can't get tangles up in each other...
I got ultrasound pics too, which are amazing!
I thought a multiples clinic would have lots of other triplets, plus larger groups, but apparently not. I'm the only one they've had for awile, most are twins and high risk babies. The doctor had me do an ultrasound before I came and then asked me to do a second ultrasound in his office. Two residents and a new ultrasound tech got a lesson on triplets while my partner and I waited. Guess I'd better get used to being in a fish bowl, huh? At least they can learn from me.
No more appointments till aug. 12. until then babies are just suppposed to grow. After that more regular appoints, every two weeks, and then once a week when they get bigger. Doc is going to put me on bed rest at 5 months, Nov. 1st.
Hope everyone is doing well =)

Hello Everyone...
Thanks again to everyone for the kind congrats! We're very excited, but still nervous.
I got my 2nd "call" yesterday, Friday. my hcg was 524, so I doubled. she called pretty late too, and my heart was beating soo fast b/c I was soo scared. thank goodness. the nurse said all is looking good. I have my first sonogram Monday 7/28 (with being pregnant)...
As you must all know, Sonograms are like going to the bathroom, we do it all the time!!! when I get to the Drs. I just throw my legs up like it's no big deal anymore. She said they are going to try and see if they can see our peanut in my uterus. she said they might not see anything yet, and not to worry. it might be too early. I wonder why they want me to come in soo soon. is 534 a normal # for 4.5 weeks along?
well I'm definilty feeling like I'm peeing more often. I thought this wouldnt happen for a few more weeks?
Another question... is it better to wait till 3 months to tell people? we told our close family and friends only so far.
I'll let you all know how it's going.
I love reading everyone's progress!
Mel :)

So awesome!  I had to laugh at your comment on sonograms.  You'll be glad when it switches to the ultrasounds on the stomach.  They are MUCH nicer!!!  I had my first blood test two weeks to the day after my transfer, and I was already 464, so you'll see numbers all over the place.  Mine kept climbing so fast that the doctor was certain that I was pregnant with multiples, yet I have a singleton.  I was just glad to see the number increasing.
As for telling people.....I didn't hesitate to share the news since we were over the moon with happiness, etc.  Anyone that knew us well enough knew what we'd been through to get here, and they were all fully aware of the risks involved, so if they've been holding their breaths until I hit 12 weeks (I am now 13 wks.), no one said a word.  It's really up to you, so do what you feel comfortable with.  I felt that should something happen I'd have more support since everyone knew.  Plus since I was restricted from doing things like lifting I had to explain to those that I came in contact with at work why I my husband was coming along to help me lift.

I continue to feel better and better.  Ok, I've learned NOT to eat anything spicy!!  Heartburn big time!!!!  And aside from the still rapidly growing chest that feels like it's got electric shocks running through it.....I am doing very well.  I just noticed yesterday that when I put my hands on my hips.....well, what hips????  Anyone else there?  It was pretty funny.  I don't have a waistline!  I'm still not in maternity though.  Just very loose shorts with longer tops, but I can see that I won't be doing this much longer.

Barbara, so glad to hear that the triplets are doing EXCELLENT!  I also pick up on the fact that you are doing so much better, and that's awesome to hear.  I've seen info in some of my books on pregnancy about bed rest, so you may get ideas, etc. on how to plan for it.

Danielle, so glad to hear from you again.  I was worried about you when you hadn't posted.  Maybe we'll both have boys.  I'll see what he says on Aug. 7th since my sister told me that he'd told her one of her twins was a boy, but she had two girls.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I forgot to say this in my last post....I signed up on www.babycenter.com, and every week I receive an email that tells me all about the deveopment, etc. of my baby.  It's been so cool to read how it's changing and what's developing and happening each week.  I read them out loud to my husband (and my children hear me, so my daughter keeps saying, "the baby is the size of this blueberry, Mom."  Cute, huh?  Actually I just got my 13 week email after I logged off a minute ago, and it says the baby now has fingerprints and is about 3 inches long.  Even though I have the "What to Expect..." book, this is also nice to get each week, so I highly recommend it.

Hi again,

Mel, don't know about numbers, with the triplets my second look at hcg was 2,600 something, so I don't think my results can tell you much. Doubling is a very good sign though. I also agree completely with Linda. The fact is your close family probably already knows you've been doing fertiltiy, may even know you just didn't IVF so they are going to suspect something anyway. We've all waited so long for good results, why not shout it to the world. Evryone thinks I'm crazy to be telling people about our triplets at 91/2 weeks but I don't care. They are especially critical about us telling our 7 year old daughter but if I figure if anyone has the right to know and not find out after everyone else it's her.
you're right Linda, baby center rocks... there is another one too fetal development, gives you week by week updates. you can even download a pregnancy count down, with a week by week guide on your facebook account! hee hee hee

Well I had a sonogram today... I'm only about 4.5-5 weeks & they couldnt see anything yet, which they told me was possible. The dr. said they bring IVF in early to be sure there is no tubal preg. I don't understand why I had to go in soo early anyways?
They also took blood to be sure my hcg was still rising. I feel like they are just worrying me more...
so another day to wait for the "call".
Did anyone else go in for 1st sonogram around 4-5 weeks and not see anything?

Hi Karen,
I did my HPT 10 days after my embryo transfer. it was positive, and the blood work confirmed 14 days. but I was a nervous wreck for the 2 weeks I had to wait! I heard there could be false positives....but if you read some of the postings on this forum, lot's of positive HPT, and they were actually positive. so it made me feel better.
good luck! I hope all works out!

My first ultrasound was the Thursday after I got my positive blood test which was the Friday before (two weeks to the day after my transfer), so I don't know how far along that made me???  Anyway, there was a gestational sac and what looked like something very small inside, but had I not known that I was pregnant I'd never have thought it was the beginnings of a baby.  If they told you that they may not be able to see anything that early then trust in that.  Your beta is obviously a great sign that you're pregnant.  I freaked because the tech didn't act like it looked "normal" and muttered stuff about the lack of a heartbeat, and I remember thinking, "heartbeat????  I just found out that I was pregnant like 6 days ago!"  Bottom line......you'll find that each week you'll be stressing and waiting to learn that this or that is normal or ok.  It's all a part of becoming pregnant by using an infertility procedure.  My last visit the doctor was very casual saying, "well everything looks great!"  and I walked out almost not believing it because I've had to stress out since the day of the tranfer.  I'm not used to letting down my guard and feeling like everything is fine.
Let us know what your blood results are tomorrow.  I wish that you didn't have to wait overnight.  Sometimes I had to too, and it was killer.

Hello,
thanks....
Yesterday, Monday 7/28 my blood hcg was 2028(more than doubled), prog was 49.9. The nurse said this is great.. and the Dr. said this is very optomistic.
I'm figuring tomorrow, wed 7/30 I'll be 5 weeks. (Embryo transfer was 7/9)
this is how I count, right?
I'm going in for another sonogram tom, Wed 7/30 3pm.
The dr. said he was just a little concerned b/c he wanted to be sure the baby is in the uterus and not in the tubes.
my one girlfriend told me they couldnt see a sac in the uterus till she was about 6 or 7 weeks. so I know I'm just early.
I'll post the results. Mel :)

Yes, the "problem" with getting pregnant with infertility is that you are monitored so much, and it is very stressful.  In a normal pregnancy a woman doesn't have a clue most of the time that she's even pregnant, and here we are looking for things on an ultrasound!  It's very nerve racking!!!!  Then when a "normal" pregnant woman is figuring out that she's pregnant, we're looking for a heartbeat!  I just keep reminding myself that we are a chosen group.  God chose us to conceive differently, and He knows that we're strong women for doing it all this way.

Hang in there!

Well, we found out the sex of our twins today!!!!!  And.... we are are having 2 precious little GIRLS!!!!    We were a little shocked as the last sonogram(only 12 weeks) they thought twin b was a boy.  But now right at 16 weeks, they are both girls. We are very happy and just busting with excitment.  I hope my hubby is not sad because of no boy. He says no way, he is very blessed and God is giving us what is meant to be. But you know every man wants a boy.  But we are so blessed.  Hope everyone is doing well.  Shannon

Congratulations!  That's awesome.  How cute.....my sister's fraternal twin girls are precious as I'm sure yours will be too.  Believe what your husband says....I have to say that my daughter is definitely a Daddy's girl!!!  Your husband will have Daddy's girls!  Also, I watch my brother-in-law with his twin girls, and he's just "different" with them than he is their son, so you'll be pleasantly surprised.  Men LOVE girls too.

I hope that you're feeling well since you didn't mention that you were still sick.

Take care,
Linda

Today we had another sonogram to find a sac. Today I'm actually 5 weeks 2 days. They were able to see a sac with a yok inside. we were soo happy.
Now we wont have to go back for 2 weeks. then we will see the heart beat.  Pregnancy is a bunch of journeys.....

every RE is differnt
two of mine think doctors are just trying to get your money if they make you do a sonogram before 6 weeks (heartbeat time)
I have to agree with them

My really really really good RE says you wouldn't necessarily see an ectopic till 8 weeks anywat - AND there is still a chance one is in the tubes even if one is in the uterus - so doing one under the "guise"  of checking for tubal might be made up - anyway - that according to my docs

the center I just left want one after you hit 1500 HCG I said no thank you - I am going to a diff doc - bye!

Anyone out there ever have a false negative HPT?

I just took one 7 days after transfer...and it was negative.  I feel like I have lost hope.  I go on Monday for my bloodtest.

hello ladies,
it has been a long long time. i typed up a long long long post last week and for some reason it did not go through. i was pissed!
just want to say hope everyone is doing well.

congrats, mel on your pregnancy. hope it is going well.

linda, how are you feeling? you should be about 13 and a half weeks now. hope all is well. any further increase in the boob area?
mine have not grown...we've discussed how i feel about that..
all my friends are telling me that i will have one happy baby!!

well, i changed my ob gyn because the first one had the most driest personality i have ever seen in a doctor! the one i went to this morning was the complete opposite to him. baby was sucking his/her thumb when i saw it on the monitor. that has to be the most beautiful thing ever. i told the doctor that i could watch it all day! lol!!!

karen, you just have to be patient..we all know what it is like in the 2WW especially a lot of the early pregnancy symptoms feel like period symptoms...try to keep yourself busy, come in the forum and talk about your symptoms. lots of knowledge and experience floating around in here..fantastic read always!

shannon, congrats on knowing the sex of your twins! little girls..that is great.

gotta run.

take care all
Kim

by karen3710, Jul 31, 2008 07:54PM
well, in spite of the negative HPT, I gave it to God.  My hubby and I agreed from the beginning that God's in control, and no matter the outcome, we will keep that as our focus. (which can be a minute by minute battle!) I talked with a nurse friend who works at a fertility clinic, and she said that it's "only been 1 week and the hcg may not be measuring"....but I don't know if she was saying that to be nice!
My symptoms presently: The week of retrieval and transfer, my boobs hurt so bad that I showered in my bra.  The past few days, I was able to shower without it, although they are still tender, like they are before my period.  Last night I felt those kinda of cramps I feel a few days before my period.  Then the negative HPT this afternoon....
To make matters worse, I am a teacher and therefore on summer break, which gives  me alot of time to think about and over analyze every little thing!!  I also am starting to look ahead to when I can have another transfer ( I have 7 frozen).  Ohhhhhh the mind can be such a battle ground!!  I know you all can relate.  Thanks for the vent session! And thanks Kim for the kind words.  Mel, congrats!!!  :0)

Hello Karen....
hang in there, I took my HPT around 10 days after transfer....it was positive, but I kept thinking it was false.
I hated the wait also! we had to wait 14 days to take the blood test.
good luck! and let us know.

Thank you everyone for the kind wishes!
we'll keep you all posted.

If you read previous pages worth of posts you'll find the exact day after transfer since my "pregnancy brain" can't remember exactly, but I did an HPT maybe 8-9 days after and got a negative (or at least I wasn't going to sit and wait for it to maybe have a faint line).  It was negative.  I got a positive blood test at 14 days.  We had NOTHING frozen, so this was it, so we are very thankful to God that it worked.

You have a safety net with your frozen embryos, but you won't know if this one's a go until what, another week?

Also, five years ago I got my results phone call at school in my classroom (thank God no students were in there!) when we did IVF.  It was not a success, and we consequently adopted our first two children, so I'm a firm believer in the plan that's laid out for us all, so go with your trust in God since it is He that knows already what the outcome will be.

Hang in there.  The wait is soooo hard!  We've all been there.  Linda

by karen3710, Aug 01, 2008 03:59PM
To: linda
Thank you.....I have been saying that outloud to others, that "God already knows the outcome...and His plan is perfect."  Just as in your case, I'm sure your adopted children have been blessings beyond compare.
My blood test is this coming Monday.  I was thinking about the wait between the actual blood test and the phone call....wow!  that will probably feel like 2 more weeks!!

I've been thinking about you even though I haven't posted.  I somehow had a peace come over me the day of the results.  I was so tired of worrying about it and truly felt that it was going to be negative (thank God I was wrong!), so I came home and busied myself since the plan was to wait until my husband came home at 3:30 that day.   That meant an all day wait basically; however, they broke tradition and called me at 1:30, so it came out of the blue.

Let us know what you find out today, and just know that it is so true what you wrote on Aug. 1.

frcy, same goes for you!!

Ok, went back to the OB today after 3 weeks.  When you're so used to going to often it's almost unsettling to go for that long without an ultrasound.  I started worrying....like is everything ok?  I don't feel anything yet, so I don't have the comfort in knowing that the baby is still alive.  Well SHE is still alive!!!!!!!!  Yep, he's like, "well I guess it's an Arlene not a Virgil!"  "I told you guys not to go out and buy blue things."  Well we didn't, but we weren't expecting the baby to have a sex change!  He acted like he couldn't believe it either; however, upon further "investigation" I've learned that he often "guesses" the wrong gender, so I'll take this with a huge grain of salt until I go in three more weeks.  He said that he will be able to tell FOR SURE at that time.
So, now I'm thinking pink.  I'm happy either way.  Just want healthy healthy healthy!  Her/his heart and brain look great he said.  Saw hands and feet but not very clearly.

Hope everyone is well.  I'm thinking that we aren't going to hear from Karen or frcy, and I've been thinking about them all week.

Kim, my feet have been swollen too!  Kinda feel numb on one side too.  I also have horrible rapid heart rate usually at night when I'm trying to relax and/or sleep, but doc said not to worry as long as I'm not dizzy or feeling like I'm going to blackout.  Ok, I'll just continue to try and sleep while my body feels like I'm in the 400 in the Olympics!

I miss hearing from everybody!!  Hint, hint.....

I will be going for another ultrasound next wed 8/13, I'll be 7 weeks. they will look for the heart beat. I'm very excited, and still scared!
I've been feeling pretty tired in the afternoons. I've also been feeling nauses in the afternoons too. Food sometimes looks discusting to me. My husband is baffled b/c when he has food, I don't try and eat some.

Hey ladies,

mel, why are you scared? i was so freaking excited at the prospect of being able to see a heartbeat i just could not wait! even now, every time i have to go to the doctor, the idea of seeing my little baby on the screen is one of the most exciting things i can ever hope to experience.

linda, sometimes at night, my legs, especially my left leg feels numb and listening to people does not help either....'oh, it is too early in the pregnancy to have swollen feet','oh check your blood pressure it may be high','oh, you better call your doctor, that is not normal;...blah, blah, blah....my blood pressure is 118/62...so there...
everyone's pregnancy is different, so i just ignore them all.

my feet are not swollen anymore, i think i just needed some r&r over the weekend. i also did a lot of massaging at the bottom of my feet and i have one of these roller massager feet thingys, which i have started using at night. it may just be a matter of circulation, or even the uterus putting pressure on my pelvic veins...(just read that somewhere!).

spoke to the nurse on friday and she told me to stay away from salt for the day, of course, 30 minutes later i was eating a healthy helping of lasagna! lol!!

seriously though, i feel pretty good. no maternity clothes for me as yet....i may have put on 5 lbs since the beginning of the pregnancy i don't know...i dont feel as if i am pregnant at all!! sounds bad, but sometimes i am glad when i have the swollen feet that way i know i am still pregnant.

anyway, take care all.

yea... I've become a worrying idiot! I have had friends with problems, but I have to just realize every pregnancy is different!
so I will take your advise... and just be excited. My husband is soo good to me, he keeps me balanced. I'm soo lucky.
I already have swollen ankles, my husband calls them cankles...I've had them since I was a kid... so I can't blame the baby.... must be a polish thing? hehehehehehe

Aloha Ladies,
I just wanted to say that this forum is a God Sent. This is my first day on this site and I love the comments and feedback from all of the ladies I have read about thus far. Congrats to all the Mommies and Mommies in waiting!!! I too have just completed my first cycle of IVF on 07/30 ( 2 embryos trans on day 5) and will have my bood test done on Thursday 8/7/08. This 2WW is driving me crazy:-)  As I hve had some of the symptoms mentioned from the post I have read, I really, really want to take a HPT, but I am to nervous to do so. So I am trying to wait til Thursday. Not sure if I can, will try but not a guarantee.. It is so refreshing to hear about all of the singletons and multiples. Once again, Congrats and now I know what to look forward to.

Thanks,
Nichole

Just wanted to give a quick update. Had another ultrasound today... Babies are all fine, and moving around like crazy! I am 12 weeks tomorrow and have begun feeling them move already... early I know, but apparentely that is common with triplets.
I've had some cervical bleeding in the last few weeks. When it initially happened (besides the fact that it completely freaked me out) the doctor pulled me off the estrace and progesterone. He said the same hormones that help the baby attach, weaken the cervix. No problem now anyway, since they are making their own hormones now.
The problem seems to be healing, but they will continue to moniter and if necesary put in a cervical stitch. For now though, we are all well. Next ultrasound at 16 weeks.

I'm really enjoying reading some of these post, Linda you seem to be a stage ahead of me so it's neat to hear what's coming next and then have it happen to me too =)

All you people wanting a home preganancy test, I took mine two days before my blood test and it was an accurate positive. I've noiticed from the postings though that in canada they do the test 14 days after, and in the states they seem to do it sooner. I would say if you really want too it's only 20 dollars. Just don't don't take it as gospel. It may be negative, and then you end up with a positive blood test because the hormone levels weren't high enough yet... or it may be positve and still reading hormone levels from your pre transfer drugs... A lot of us here have gone through multiple fertiltiy treatments... so my biggest advice is, don't give up hope =)
Best wishes to all!
Barb

Hello Linda,  I have been reading emails and just not posting I guess.  Also we were in Louisiana for a week.

Things are fine, well they were at my last appointment. I do not go for another until the 30th and good grief, I can not stand waiting a month between visits. I like to see them moving and hearing there heart beats. I am now 17weeks and I am still just feeling little flurries every once in awhile. I want to feel an actual movement. Then I will know they are good. But for sure my stomach is growing everyday. I must admit, I love it!  I have wanted and prayed for this for so long. It is so exctiting.  I will send this email to your personal email as well. That way you have my email address. Is everything good with you?  Shannon

Hello all,

Just a quick hello.
Things are progressing nicely with me. I go back to the doctor on Thursday at which time I will be 16 weeks.
I too am feeling like a little round butterball! But cute, nevertheless.....lol!!!!

Shannon, good to hear from you. At least you are feeling flurries, I have not felt anything yet. I guess by the end of next week.

Linda, like you, by the end of the month I will be wearing maternity clothes for sure.

Nichole and Mel, hope you guys are doing okay.

Barbara, hope the triplets are kicking nicely.

Has anyone heard from Danielle recently??

Gotta go,
Take care all.

How is everyone doing?
I'm doing great...
I went to my OB/GYN for my first visit this past Wed. I'm 8.5 weeks now.
they took a bunch of blood and did an exam.
All is OK except that my iron is low. It's been pretty borderline my whole life. I dont understand... I eat tons of green vegetables and beans.
I guess I really don't absorb very well. So they will be giving me iron supplements.
Also I've been taking Shaklee vitamins, and the Dr. said he would rather me take a RX prenatel called: Duet. Does anyone else take Duet? how do you like it?
Well still pretty tired in the afternoons and evenings. just a bit nauses in the afternoons. besides that I feel pretty good!
take care!

Happy Friday to All,

I just wanted to drop a line to everyone and say "Hello" and that I hope all is going well with all of you wonderful ladies. As for me, I feel like a little bloated piglet. I had the worst case of gas in the middle of the night last night. It *****. I told my hubby that it feels like one huge gas bubble in my tummy and out comes the belching. It was so bad this morning, that I woke up @ 2:58 a.m to be exact to take something for relief. It helped and I eventually fell back off to sleep and almost overslept for work today. Uggghh:-(
I know some of you ladies talked about Gatorade to help with the bloating, can someone please tell me what this does adn how it helps??? My nurse told me to drink a lot during the day. Do you ladies mind sharing with me when you started to notice a little budge or expanding middle area. I am not sure if it's just me, but I feel a little more round than I ever have before, as I have never had a tummy. I would love to hear when everyone started to notice? Thanks and once again, I hope everyone is doing well today:-)

I know gatorade is high in salt... maybe it helps prevent water retention??? just a guess

Anyone have any bleeding during thier pregnancy? I am almost 14 weeks now and have been bleeding different amounts and colours for 2 weeks now, Docotors keep insisting babies are fine, and blood is from lining around placenta but not harming placenta. Cervix is now closed and healed from last 'incident'. Anyone have a similiar experience? I am still on bed rest and going a little nuts with worry ...

Hello everyone.
Just saying hello, hope everyone is doing well.
I'm now 9.5 weeks. feeling better. still nauses and tired in the afternoons.
I did go to my regular OB last week Wed, and he took lots of blood. so then he called me last Fri to tell me that I'm low on Iron and to take a supplement. He was also nice enough to give me samples. I was taking shaklee vitamins so maybe these just werent enough. He also switched my prenatels to "duet". Anyone else taking Duets? I like them so far, and i've been taking for about 8 days now, and I even feel better. so maybe I was just not taking the right doses. I also added eating Total cereal in the mornings. each serving has 100% of DV. so I have to be good now! when I go back for my 12week visit we'll find out. he also put me back on Proj, just a creme once per day. he said my prog numbers were fine, but it was a precaution... since I did express I was concered when I stopped.
the creme is definitely easier than the shot in the butt!
Someone write soon! I hope all is well!

I have been on another forum for the past couple of days until I found this one today, and have been reading over all of the success stories and you all seem to be like one big family.  I am currently in the 2ww on my fourth round of ivf.  I just enjoy chatting with others that are going through the same things I am and have been going through.  My test is this Friday the 26th and we are hoping for good results.  Our 3rd cycle worked but we miscarried at 9 weeks.

I'm praying positive thoughts for you for this Friday.  Yes, we all are like a family here although many of us have stopped posting after becoming pregnant in large part because it's not meant to be an "in your face" forum, and not everyone gets a positive result, and many of us are not first timers to IVF either.  I do like to check in though, and if I can be of help of offer up prayers I sure will.

Please let us know what you find out.  We all know how hard it is that's for sure!!  You're almost at the end of the 2ww which was the hardest for me.
AGQT, yes, please let us know too.  It sounds like you are prepared for whatever God has in store.

Hello all,

It has been a while! But for some reason I could not post anything for weeks, so I gave up.
I am now approaching my 23rd week and pleased to report, no sickness, not too much weight gain. Think I gained 6 lbs in about 12 weeks. No increase in the boobs, just a little belly. No cravings.
People are hating me because I tell them that I keep forgetting that I am pregnant until I look down at my little belly and my forever swollen feet.

Oh yeah, scan showed that it is a little girl!

Hope everyone is doing well!
Let me know what is going on with all of you...Danielle and Linda and Shannon and Barbara...

I am now 25 weeks 3 days prego. I have gained 25 pounds in 25 weeks and that is with twin girls.  I am not sure if that is too much. But luckily it is mostly all in the tummy.  I did have my blood glucose check yesterday, so now I am waiting on my results. It seems like we are always waiting on some type of appointment or results, just praying that everything is okay. I am officially on light duty now too. So trying to relax more and keep my feet elevated. Oh, and wow I am having a serious itching problem.  And not just in the stretching tummy area. But all over back, legs, arms. Doctor says it could be several different things. Two of which I would need to deliver now.  Which we all know 25 weeks is not far enough to guarantee that everything will be okay with the babies, so I am waiting on those results too.
Kim, I am so happy to hear you are having a girl.  It is so fun shopping for little girls. And 6 pounds, are you eating?  That makes me feel huge.
Well take care and I will try and post more often.   Shannon

Shannon, Mel, Kim, great to hear from all of you!

I'll be 24 weeks Saturday, so 6 months already, and I try not to look at the scale when I go every 3 weeks.  I jumped to a 38DDD and growing, which is my main growth area; however, my belly is getting larger by the day too, and I love it.  My pregnany so far has been great; although I somehow got poison ivy even though I did no yard work.  It began on my chest spread to my arms and thigh before landing exactly at the belly area!!  So much for stretch mark cream.  They had to put me on a steroid for 3 weeks and an antibiotic cream.  It was horrible for awhile, as the itching became so bad at night, and the steriod  makes you very wired, so I couldn't sleep.  Then they said take Benadryl.  So it was not fun, but I'm happy to say it's almost gone now, and today I rubbed my stretch mark cream on for the first time in over a month.

I do have sinus trouble in general, but I've had it and a cough this week, so I got some Mucinex DM, or I take generic Sudafed and Tylenol.  I hate taking stuff, but I've been reassured that I'm past birth defect stage, so sometimes I just have to, you know?

I am not all that hungry in this trimester, so I don't feel that I eat enough; however, I'm still growing like a weed.  I also stopped having any craving really.  Weird.

Oh, my feet are swollen, not badly now that it's gotten cooler here, but still larger to where socks with shoes make me really uncomfortable.

Again, so good to see that everyone is doing well.  Shannon, please post what you find out about the itching.

I go for my appt. tomorrow to see how she's doing.  I love feeling her move, usually at night.  Very very cool.

Linda,

Wow, You have been through alot these last few weeks. That is so weird that you got Poison Ivy.  Do you have any pets that may have rubbed up against it and then touched you?  I can't even imagine that, because my itching is bad enough.  Well My  blood glucose levels are fine so I passed that. That was a relief.  Also they have the results of the liver test and that is normal, so now we are waiting on the results of a pupp test?  It is some other thing that pregnant women can get that causes itching.  I should have the results on that later today.  But I am wondering if it isnt being caused by my laundry detg.  I recently had changed to tide with Febreeze.  Well I think that may be what is causing it.  We will see.
I will be 26 weeks this Sunday, so you are 1 day short of 2 weeks behind me. It is so exciting isnt it?  I am loving it, except for the itching of course.  You know what may help if you havn't already tried it, my doc recommended Tylnol PM and wow I am sleeping so much better.  They said I could take that or Benadryl.  But The tylnol works good for sleep.

I am not having any cravings either. Everyone keeps asking what I am craving and they seem shocked when I say nothing. In fact I can't ever decide what I want to eat.  I just have to say to Hubby just tell me what you want and I will eat it.

Let me know how your appt goes.  I am now seeing my Doc every 2 weeks. I like it so much better than waiting a month.  I like to see and hear that everything is okay.

Talk to you soon, Shannon-  Have you hear from hyperiongp- Angelique?

I have been sitting hear reading all your stories about IVF I even started to cry alittle I guess I am emotional. Monday 10/13 I have my test to see if I am pregnant this is my 2nd cycle. I was just wondering what were some of the symptoms that you experienced before you got a positive result. Did anyone not have any symptoms until the pregnancy was confirmed. I know that it is only a few days away but everyone knows how hard it can be.

Your excellent input is greatly appericated!

Hi Molly,

Welcome to the family!!

Symptoms-hmmmm.....tingly breasts, tingly feet, bloating...something that feels like a cramp at times but is not, may actually be the implantation happening.
Those are the ones that I experienced.
Others may have experienced more...

What symptoms have you had?

Welcome,

Some  of my first symptoms.  I could have sworn I was going to start my monthly.  I think it was actually implanting taking place, but everyday I was  cramping.  Also I was very sensitive to smells, that happened like within a week of having them ( my Girls) put in. Hope this helps.   Shannon

Thanks for welcoming me. I really appreciate you sharing your experiences with me. Kim I guess I am experiencing a little cramping just like Shannon is having and headaches. I know my doctors office told me on my last IVF that sometime you dont have any symptoms but you can still be pregnant. That women that have IVF there bodies might take longer to recongize they are pregnant.  I have light cramping like am going to start but techinally i will if im not pregnant that is what makes it so hard. Well my wait is almost over to find out and I have read that some ladies took a HPT and got a positive result and that makes me tempted to go out and buy a test. I would hate to buy it and see a negative result even though i know that it is not a positive negative until the blood test is done. Wow this time seems harder then last time for some reason the only thing i can say is that I am feeling different then last time and I am hoping that is a positive thing also NO more progesterone shots i am a little sore from them.  I am so glad i found this sight because last time I told everyone that I was doing IVF. This time I decided not to. There we just to much pressure with everyone wanting to know if i was pregnant. So I managed not to say anything and I feel better about that to. I hope I will have the chance Monday to tell everyone that I got a Positive result but if I get a negative well then no big deal I cant do anything about it. Well I guess maybe try one more time. LOL

Thanks for listening

We've all been there, so you are definitely in the right place here.   I swore that I was NOT pregnant, and after I think day 8 or 9 past transfer, a HPT said negative.  I may have had slight cramping. nothing big.  I do remember burping sometimes which was a little odd for me.  Boobs weren't really sore.  Again, I REALLY didn't think that it had worked, and I was utterly shocked when they called to tell me that I was pregnant.  Everyone is different.
You'd have to read past posts on this forum, like before this page to see symptoms of ours that we may be forgetting, since pregnancy does that to you.  I hope for the best for you.  Please let us know.

Shannon, went today.  She looked so much bigger!  Looks great.  I'm having the bloodwork done next time I go in Nov.  Glucose, etc.  Also, when the itching was at its worst I started taking Tylenol PM and slept well, but I also sometimes took a half of an Ambien.  Last night I took nothing, and I slept just OK.  I'm now off of the steroid, and the rash seems to be going away.  I hate taking stuff if I don't have to, but a good night's sleep does wonders!  Glad that your tests look good so far, and no, haven't heard from Angelique.  I've been thinking about you both but with all that's been going on I haven't had time to email, so I'm glad that you posted here.

My only "cravings" if you even want to call them that.....I want french toast sticks for breakfast, and I had a 5th Avenue candy bar two days in a row!  Nice, huh?

Take care,
Linda

Molly, prayers going out to you!!!

Thanks that really makes me feel better because I think I in the same boat you were in so I really hope i get shocking news also. I guess I will wait and not buy a HPT I made it this long. LOL

A little sweet tooth nothing wrong with that. LOL

Thanks for sharing. By chance I cant wait on that Hpt I will let you know what happened and Monday there is no guessing. I hope they dont make me wait all day like last time that was trouble.

Linda,  Hey isn't it wonderful to see how big they have grown and how much they are moving around.  Do not worry about the Glucose test and drinking the orange drink.  It really is not that bad.  I had a few people tell me they threw up and got sick and had me a little freaked out.  It was not bad at all.  Just make sure you eat a good breakfast before doing the test. All that sugar can do a  number on your stomach if not.  My babies heart beats were racing from all the sugar.  To me that does not seem good to that to them.  But I am glad that is over with.

My itching has stopped except for the stomach and that is from stretching.  So I am much better now.   I am getting very anxious though and I still have aways to go.

Talk to you soon, Shannon

Molly,  I did break down I think on day 8 or 9  and took a HPT and it was a very faint positive. So then I took one the next day and it was little darker.  Well I ended up taking like 4 of them.  I still would not believe it until I heard it from the Doctors mouth directly.  I think either way it is very hard to wait.  If you do take one, let us know the results.  I will be saying some prayers for a positive result for you.  Take Care,  Shannon

Well my husband says i should wait. He says it is in gods hands and we waited this long. So I told him he is right. I am going to keep myself busy this weekend so that i dont think much about it.  I love the fact that Linda didnt have hardly any symptoms and when the doctor called she was so shocked to hear it was positive. I pray that will be me also. I am going to continue keeping a postive attitude and hope for the best.

Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. It make me smile just knowing that you guys are out there.

I am so excited finding forum.  This is so helpful!  I am in the same boat like you Molly.  I am having a BPT on 10/12/08, just a day before you.  Yes, this 2WW is killing me.  Between this 2 wks period waiting, I have like a headache, sometimes slightly cramping, and get hungry so badly.  I am so nervous at the same time.  I also get tempted to buy a HPT, but then I don't have a gut to do so.  I'll just wait for the BPT this Sunday morning and will find out in the afternoon.  I hope to have a shocking news too.  This is my first IVF and I had 2 embryos to put in my uterus.

I am glad to hear I am not alone. It seems I am starting to think about everything alot more since it is a few days away. I guess i am a little nervous but it really is out of our control. All we can do is hope for the best. I wish my test was on sunday because i know the office closes at 12 or 1pm and that isnt that bad. Last time they called me around 4pm to tell me sorry it didnt work so all day I sat here stressed waiting for the results. Well you have to let me know what happens. I hope it will be good news but either way please let me know. I will think about you all weekend.

Good luck

I started spotting pink earlier and i am a little worried. I know that spotting is not uncommon when you are taking the progesterone shots but can someone please tell me they had a positive out come after spotting. I honestly feel like throwing up. When does implantation bleeding occur and how long does it last in a person who had IVF.

You imput would really make me feel better.
Thanks

This is also my 2nd round of IVF.  Just found out I was pregnant last Friday from a HPT and had my HCG levels drawn Monday and Wed.
The doctor told me I could have some spotting during implantation, but I didn't have any.  I also had NO symptoms that I was pregnant.  I had nausea, but that started before the transfer because of the progesterone shots, doctor said it delays the emptying of your stomach and was the cause of it.  I know it's hard waiting, but don't let the lack of symptoms get you down.
I'm kinda like you.....I couldn't wait for blood tests, both times I bought HPTs.  The 1st was negative and it helped me prepare for the bad news from the doc.  But there was still a HOPE that the HPT was wrong.
I wish you the BEST of luck and pray for positive results on your upcoming blood tests.  Good luck, I wish you the best!  Try and enjoy your weekend.

To: Hi All,

I am so happy about the shocking news yesterday after my blood draw.  The nurse called me and said my HCG level was 394.  I'll have to go back to get another blood draw again this Wednesday to make sure it is rising up.  It's such an exciting news..
Anyway, did this mean a good number since I had 2 were transferred?

by Linda0305, Oct 13, 2008 08:32AM
To: xlenax
Congratulations!!!!!  My first beta was 264, and the nurse said, "you are VERY pregnant."  So 394 is a great number!  I'm pregnant with a singleton.  It's so hard to tell how many "took" at this point based on the number alone, so just wait and see (as if you haven't done a lot of that already!).   That's so cool.  Did you have to wait all day to get the call?

Again, great news. Keep us posted.

Oh yea, I was praying all day and was nervous at the same time.  Actually, my blood draw was in the morning, then the nurse called me after 1 pm, so it wasn't bad.  The worse waiting was in the 2 WW.  But I did see some sympton for last couple days like feeling nausea, sore breast, and slightly cramping.  That was about it!

It has been a real long time since I posted.  First I want to congratulate all the recent mom's to be, and to say hello to all those that have been on here posting for awhile.

For those in the agonizing two week wait, I just want to say hang in there and don't give up.  I have been where you are today and I know how hard the whole process is, so you are all in my prayers.  Today I am 30 weeks 1 day pregnant with twins, but I haven't forgotten what it felt like to sit around my house and wonder if I would be blessed with a baby.

Like many other people I had no real symptoms of pregnancy.  I only knew I was pregnant because I broke down and did a HPT, which came back faintly positive.  Two days before the actually blood test I started bleeding, the worst feeling ever, because I knew I was pregnant, and figured this was it (I had had 6 miscarriages prior).  It wasn't it, the cause of that bleeding incident and several others never determined.

I thank God everyday for my two miracles, and will never forget the what I went through to get them.  So my message to everyone else is hang in there.

Linda and BimKim, nice to hear that everything is progressing well with the two of you.  I am starting to feel a little scared and anxious, because for me I am now counting weeks until delivery.  My cervix is still closed, and I have no risk factors for early delivery at this point; however the anxiety is still there.  I see my doctor every two weeks and go for medical ultrasounds every couple weeks to monitor their growth, placentas, and condition of my cervix.  My doctor is hoping to take me to the beginning of week 38, but said that if I go into labor after 34 weeks he will do nothing to stop it, as the babies lungs are fairly well developed.

Hang in there, the time goes by really fast.

Angelique

Well we found out what we're having yesterday! it's a boy! we're excited!
I found out 2 weeks early b/c this past sunday I had a little bleeding when I wiped. So yesterday they checked me out, and it seems that I have a cyst or 2 near my cervix which may have caused the bleeding. The cervix is closed and the baby is fine. I didnt have any cramping or anything. The sonographer said that sometimes if you have a pap smear while pregnant (I had 2 and they were both normal) the remnants can be left behind. So the dr. will take a look at the pictures and decide if anything needs to be done. I'm not worrired. I'm glad they found out what the problem is just in case.
I've been also having pounding sinus headaches tooo! this is the worst part about being pregnant, all else feels fine to me. My dr. said I can take Tylenol, and it's normal.
How is everyone else doing? I still check this Forum almost every day! I love to read everyones postings.
Take care everyone!
Mel :)

My 2nd blood test for HCG was 1495 on 10/15/08 after my 14 days of embryo transferred. I heard it was a good #?  I am having my first ultrasound on 10/29/08 to find out if I am pregnant with twin or not.  The nurse said they will schedule me for an ultrasound on 10/29/08 which is 6.5 weeks in my pregnancy?  I am a little bit confused by the weekly pregnancy.  I remember my last day of period was 9/18/08, then I started my gonal-f shot on 9/20/08, eggs retrieval on 9/28/08, then embryos transferred on 10/1/08.  My first blood test for HCG was on 10/12/08 which is 12 days after my embryos transferred and it was 394 and then on 10/15/08 my HCG was 1945.  Did this mean I am having twin?  I can't wait for the ultrasound.

I can not say if you are having one or two.  My numbers were as follows.  Day 12 my HCG was 758 Day 14 numbers were 1,957.  I am having twin girls!!!!   I think you will not know for sure until you have your sonogram.  Let us know how it goes. I wish you the best of luck.  If twins is what you want then I can say it is so fun knowing that their are two little babies in their.  They have womb mate's.  Shannon

Congrats on your high numbers.  My FET was 9/26.  My first HCG was 154 and then two days later, 384.  The nurse said those were good numbers, but yours are significantly higher.  Good  luck with your 1st ultrasound....I hope you are blessed with as many as your heart desires.  But I'm with you....one is a BLESSING and I'd be happy no matter what!  My first US is on Tues....I'm sooooo anxious, can't get here fast enough.  Seeing the proof might help me to stop worrying about every little thing (like no nausea or sore boobs).
Weekly pregnancy.....with IVF, your about 2 weeks ahead.  Based on what I have read....the first couple of weeks of a normal pregnancy are ovulation and fertilization, which has already been done for us.
GOOD LUCK with everything...keep us informed!

Well the first trimester I was very nauseated all the time and so all I could do was just lay around anyway.  2nd trimester felt wonderful except for constipated bad.  3rd trimester I am tired around 4-5 :00  everyday. I have to do all my errands and things in the AM.  But still loving every minute of it all.

As of last Tuesday I had gained a whopping 35lbs. But My doc says that is fine with two babies.  It is mostly in my stomach, a little bit in other places. I really hope not to go over 45lbs at the most 50.  But really whatever, long as my babies are healthy. I certainly am not watching what I eat by no means. But also not eating junk.  If I want it and it is not that bad then I eat it.  It is funny though,  the second trimester I found that eating several small meals throughout the day worked best. Now I really eat my 3 main meals and once in awhile I will want a snack.

How long before your next appointment??  Take Care,  Shannon

Nothing with me as of right now.  A little nauseous every now and then.  Really no weight gain so far.  Just really tired and I feel like I could sleep for 24 hrs and it still wouldn't be enough!!  HA!HA!

Well good luck....keep me informed of your progress, it will be nice to compare notes!!

They estimated my twins were about 6 wks 2 days when I went for the sonogram.  I haven't threw up yet, just the feeling nausea started kicking in this week.  Yes, I am pretty tired especially on the weekend.  Weekdays, I hate so much because I have to go pee in the middle of the nights and can't go back to sleep straight.  Some days I was able to go back to sleep and then the other days I couldn't.  The body keeps changing a lot now.  My belly is getting bigger and can't fit into any of my old pants or jeans.

Hello all,

Wow!!! We are very soon going to have to call this a twin forum! Everyone is having twins, except me of course..and Linda.

I am doing great, 26 weeks and counting..Have not really gained too much weight, just a little cute round middle.

I am so so excited for you guys that are having multiple births, it is like you get 2 or 3 for the price of 1! I will have to go back and do IVF again, which is so so expensive. We were hoping for a twin, but.....that did not happen.

Anyway, you guys take care and keep us posted...always.

I am so lucky, my insurance is paying for it 100% for 5 times, but this is my first IVF.  But too bad next year, we don't have that insurance anymore, so can't do it again.  But I'll try it on my own though.

Hi Camile,

We all know how frustrating this whole process is, so you found a great place to come to for support.

I was one who did a HPT at about that same time you did, and it was negative.  Now, I have to mention that it was a test purchased at the Dollar Store, but it was still a HPT.  I was so upset.  In my case, it was not right.  I was and am pregnant!  I may have repeated the test and gotten another negative, but to tell you the truth I've blocked all of that out.

I will say that after I learned that I was pregnant after an entire two weeks of waiting, I redid the Dollar Store test, and it was positive then!  So they work it just wasn't detecting it that early.

Hang in there.  We all know how you feel, and it is not at all fun, but know that there is a plan for you, and continue to have faith that eventually you'll know what that plan is.

Take care and let us know how you're doing.

Linda

its nice to hear about all the good news. I see that nobody comes back to report negative results (just like i did). going for a second try on nov22.  i was dissapointed the first time and dont want to get my hopes up. i can definitely do with your praying and wishes!!! lol.

I will definitely be praying for you.  I did IVF 5+ years ago, and it was not successful, so I know how that feels.  I didn't get the opportunity to try again until this year, and low and behold God had it in His plan for me to get pregnant this time.  Have faith that there is a plan for you, and don't ever give up hope.

You are right that not everyone posts when they learn of an unsuccessful IVF.  I doubt that it would be first on my list to do after waiting for two weeks, and praying your heart out and hoping that it's FINALLY your turn.

Are you using frozen embryos this time since it's your second try?

Again, sending positive prayers to you that you will have a better outcome this time.  I took the doctor's 3-day bedrest very seriously and even did my own little "zen" deep breathing/meditation type thing.  I focused on the embryo/s implanting and would visualize it happening.  I know it sounds weird, and it may have had nothing to do with anything other than it was just my time, but I tried making the most positive environment possible for the embryo to attach itself.  You get to the point where you'll do anything (like eating the core of a pineapple).

Let us know how you're doing after the 22nd, and try and enjoy Thanksgiving.

thnks, positive thinking will definitely help. only i just came back and nothing happened. talked to the embryologist who is a friend of mine and suggested i should not go through it. there were 5 embryos (donor eggs- have no ovaries-had endometriosis for years) but did not develop as she hoped. we will wait until monday. in case the 2 better ones continue to develop then we will go through with ivf. but it looks unlikely. march it is then.

Awwww.....darn it!  I too used donor eggs only my reason is age.  I assumed incorrectly that the young donor (27) would produce lots of healthy wonderful eggs; however, I was shocked when she had seven retrieved, and we were immediately called to inform us that they needed to do ICSI in order to get a better chance that my husband's sperm would create an embryo.  Then the day before my transfer they called again to say that only five had multiplied enough and that they were going to have to do assisted hatching in order to remove the "hard shells" from the embryos in hopes of increasing the chances of implantation.  By transfer day we had two embryos that were ok quality that had had the shells removed, and one that was perfect quality with the shell still on.  We opted to have all three put in with nothing to freeze.  We had every challenge possible, and I was sure that it would not be successful; however, fortunately, I'm due in January!  So hang in there and let's see what they say on Monday.  If not now better to wait for a better quality of embryo.

Take care,
Linda

I know exactly how you feel.  I went through IVF in June, which was unsuccessful.  I immediately scheduled my 2nd round for Sept with FET.  I, too, had very negative feelings (afraid to get my hopes up, only to be disappointed again).  However, 2 eggs were placed and both implanted.  I am now 13 weeks pregnant with twins.
Don't give up hope.  Pray and give it to GOD.....he wants us all to have the happiness that we desire.  He CAN and WILL make miracles happen!!  My prayers are with you and your family, keep us informed.  .

How're you feeling lately?  I've been feeling nauseated for the past 3 wks and this wk I threw up twice because eating cheddar cheese.  I think I am sensitive to the cheese.  Wow, you are already 13 wks?  Quick huh?  I am only 11 wks and 3 days.  I thought you are a few days ahead of me?

It's been a long road ( 2 1/2 years trying) and still not easy.  Did 7 IUI's - all unsuccessful.  First IVF ended in a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks.  Next IVF's did not work.  In Nov we did our 4th IVF attempt.  They transferred 2 embro's ( ICSI and assisted hatching).  2WW was over today and found out my HCG is only 14.  They are thiking this will not be a viable pregnancy but there is a slight chance.  Does anyone out there now anyone that had delayed implantation, low low hcg on Day 14 and had a healthy pregnancy/baby?  We are so trying to hold out hope.

Yeah, today I am 13 wks 1 day.  The first doctor I went to told me I was 7 weeks.  Well that day I found out it was twins, so I went to another doctor about a week later.  And apparently the first doctor told me wrong.  They said I was 7 weeks (it should've been 7 wks 6 days) and the next doctor (a little over a week later) told me I was 9 wks 3 days.  I was confused at that point and went home and got on the computer to figure it myself.
I haven't thrown up at all (thank goodness).  I've been nauseous since the start b/c of the progesterone shots.  I will be taking those until Dec 30th and I can't wait to be finished with them.  My booty is nothing but bruised lumps.
How much weight have you gained?  I have only gained 4 pounds and I worry that it's not enough.
My major complaint is I am SOOOO tired all the time, no energy whatsoever!!  How's everything going with you?

That's so messed up for not counting the correct date of your pregnancy huh?  So far, I went to my OB when I was 8 wks and everything was normal, just slighly low in Iron which I have to eat a lot of green.  I am not going to see my OB until the 16th of this month so I will be 13th wks by then.  I've gained almost 10 lbs since the beginning of the process.  I am really a pettite person and having twins not sure how I would look.  My breats are getting larger and my belly is showing (but not too big yet).  I 've been taking Crinone 8% (progesterone) and will be done when I turn to 12 wks.  Luckily, I don't have to do the shots, the Crinone is just a vaginal gel so easy to use.

Hello all,

It's been a long time since I came into the forum, but now I am thinking 'where the heck is everybody?'.

I am now in my 38th week and doing great. Bit of groin pressure if I sit too long but that's okay. I just try to get up and walk around a little more at work.

Where is Linda, Angelique, Shannon, Nicole, Mel, Barbara, Mysty??
I want to know what is going on with you guys...NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU.

Anyway, hope everyone else is okay.

Take care all,

Kim

had hcg today, unfortunately was 4. nurse told me to continue with medicines and take another test in 3 days. she said either is too early (11 days is too early for hcg?) or it stopped during the process. did anyone test so low and later got pos results?

I know....I have checked and checked on here, and basically posts just stopped!  I can tell you that Angelique, Shannon, and I have all had our babies.  They each had their twins, and I can't remember exactly when, but all are doing well.

I gave birth on Jan. 19th at 38 weeks to our daughter, Gianna Marie.  My doctor said from the start that he'd induce me in mid-Jan., and sure enough, he did.  I however did not dilate more than a cm, and I had to have a c-section.  Gianna was 7.5 lbs. 20 inches and is a great baby!!!  She'll be 3 weeks on Monday.  I just told a friend today that I wonder often which embryo she was since we "threw in" that 3rd one that wasn't given assisted hatching but was perfect.  Just a thought you have if you've done in-vitro.

Anyway, I am imagining Kim that you've probably already had your baby now.  I was pretty ready at the end, very bad middle back pain and very swollen legs and feet.  Life is very hectic now with three children 4 and under, but I'm so happy and blessed to have had the experience of the pregnancy and birth of a healthy baby girl.

To everyone, hang in there and never give up hope.  I never thought that it would happen to me.

Well CONGRATS honey, I am so excited for you and your family.  Glad to hear that all is well.  On Tuesday, I will be 24 weeks.  Found out that I am having 2 lil precious girls and I couldn't be more excited (and anxious -- haha).  All is well here, getting bigger everyday.  Already having swollen legs and feet and one leg is really cold with poor circulation.  That must be the baby that takes after momma..... a little rotten already and laying on a nerve.  Other than that things couldn't be better, didn't have one bit of morning sickness and never even had to take medicine to prevent it.  So as far as I am concerned....I am definitely blessed, just ready for June!!!!  Take care and Congratulations to all those new Mommies!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow I will be 7 days post 3-day transfer. I took a pregnancy test today and it was negative. My beta is not until Thursday. Should I be pretty certain this cycle didn't work for us? I'm an idiot for taking it on Valentine's Day! But, I did and now I'm sad . . .

Hi ladies,

Thank you for your open discussion on ivf. I am brand new to this....I am currently in the 2ww of my first round of ivf. My pregnancy test is scheduled for next Friday 11/6/09. I have had little "twinges" of pain, not exactly cramps, but isolated little pains every now and then. My transfer was 4 days ago....could I possily be feeling implantation?
I am trying not to get my hopes up too much, for fear of disappointment. All of your encouraging stories have helped me to feel more positive, so thank you again.

Congratulations to all of the mothers, and mothers-to-be. Best of luck to all the ladies-in-waiting.

Dani

I am so happy that I found this discussion board! It is so encouraging to hear others' stories and I have so many questions myself...
I just found out last Wed (10/28) that I had a positive pregnancy test! My egg retrieval was on 10/9 and the transfer was 10/14 and I am now scheduled for an ultrasound on 11/11. It is gonna be really hard to wait 2 weeks to see my doctor. I have a lot of questions and of course and so nervous.  First of all- I am wondering how many weeks am I really pregnant? Also, what can I expect at this first ultrasound. It just helps me to hear what others have gone through so any info and tips you can give would be great!
