pregnancy test positive 4 weeks after d&c? or could i be pregnant again?

hey everybody

i'am new to this side. i had like a lot of you sadly a miscarriage on the 03/09/08.had a d&c done the very same day.i have stopped bleeding 7 days ago had intercourse with my husband then had a bleed for 1 day 2 days ago.have done a prenancy test yesterday which came back as positive.
could that still show positive from previous pregnancy or could it mean i might be pregnant again?

i'am really confused at the moment.please can anybody help me?

It could be either. It just depends on how long your body takes to return your levels to 0. I had a miscarriage and showed up positive until 4 weeks after and then it took another 2 weeks to get my period and get pregnant again. I've also heard of people who have gotten pregnant before their first period sometimes within 3 weeks of their miscarriage. I would wait and retest in a week and if its still positive contact your doctor and get your levels checked to see if they are rising or falling.

Hi im sorry for your loss i know wot it feels like i had miscariage 3 days before you. I had a follow up apt 1 weeks after and my levels had returned to 0, You should of had a follow up with doc to make sure yor levels had returned to 0, if they did then I would sugest that you go to docs and have bloods taken to see if there is any change in you levels. It is possible to get pregnant with 3 weeks after a miscariage. we are both in the same situation i took a test 1 week ago and it showed positive i felt pregnant and had all the symptoms. I went to docs, he said wait 2 weeks and test again.   Even though your levels may have gone down the body needs time to heal.

have one another tet this am and its still shows up as positive.went to my doc on friday who arranged for me to have a scan on 04/07/08 just to see if everything was removed when i had d&c.

i really hope the hospital will tell me that i'm pregnant again but i won't get my hopes up.

I hope they do too, it's just that a D&C a month ago should have gotten everything and returned your #'s back to zero I would think. This leads me to believe another pregnancy. I sure hope so! Keep us posted...

do you think that the hcg levels should go quicker back to zero if you have d&c done enstead of letting it pass naturally?

had a chat with a nurse and she said she would have thought that if the miscarriage is completed by having a D&C done that the hcg levels would have gone back to normal within a week.she said to me that it would be most likely that i'm pregnant again.

but i don't think that would have showed up on pregnancy test already as i only had intercourse a week or so ago.  or is that possible????

I agree with the nurse..I think your levels would go down quicker if all the tissue was removed. The body is a crazy thing. When are you going to get your levels tested??

to be honest my G.P never said anything to me about testing of the levels afterwards.so i was'nt even aware of that.they did'nt even ask me to come in ofr a follow up app.
i'm from germany so i did not know what the procedure after miscarriage is here in england.

as it is my first miscarriage i did'nt even know that the levels could stay up this long.
call me thick but i thought ones you would have lost your baby you would loose the pregnancy hormones as well as there is no pregnancy anymore.

How are you going to confirm the positive pregnancy test now? Do you have an appt with your Dr.?

i have seen my G.P on friday who said i have to have a scan done.but i think i will just have to wait a bit longer and do another prenancy test in 2 weeks or so.maybe it is still from last pregnancy.

i don't know what to think at the moment.

i had a miscrriage last month on march 7 have a D&C done on march 10 two weeks later took a pragnancy test it was negative , the next week took a other one came back still negative on april 14 i felt my breast was kind of sore so took a pregnancy test it camr back positive went to my doctor she told me to come in two week to make sure if i'm pregnant
